NEW SCAM ALERT

I have been with ebay since 2005, in that time I have never been scammed UNTIL NOW

Purchased 2 office chairs - ID member had no feedback and was new to ebay, gave him an opportunity to get feedback,

viewing now so did 10 other people.

No sign of any goods, he has not answered 5 emails I sent looking for goods - NO REPLY

I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED , BEWARE of New ebayers with no feedback ..

I believe other buyers have not left feedback yet, maybe they are still unaware the chairs are NOT coming

Hope this helps everyone BUYING on Ebay

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

"Have you reported it to ACORN?"

No they cannot even deal with large corporate scammers.

"He should have refunded your money"

totally agree if he was a good corporate citizen which he is obviously not

Thats what i am trying to shame him into doing.

What gets me is ebay still allows him to operate as if nothing transpired, so this is where the system fails when you break the law in any area you get reminded with a ticket, fine judgment or similar in otherwords you get penalized but because ebay gets its fee for transaction its ok to overlook indesrcetions like this in a large global operation like ebay especially with the rising sales giants .

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

Did you follow eBay's suggestions (or anyone else's) to try and get your money back? Or are you just going to continue with the same rant and do nothing about it. You can't have the poor me party without doing anything that has been suggested. If you had followed the suggestions, instead of saying it's not up to you to do it, then we'd probably feel sorry for you, but you're expecting everyone else to pay for YOUR mistake.

Yes, I am part of the eBay/PayPal system, both as a buyer and a seller. My feedback score is way higher then yours.

I do know the rules and regs because it's up to each individual to know them, so they don't make the same stupid mistake you made. If you had familiarised yourself with the rules, that you agreed to when you signed up, you wouldn't be in this mess, would you?

I have had bad buyers and I've had bad sellers. Although I tend to avoid the bad sellers. Bad buyers are a bit harder to avoid, but I try my best. The one mistake I NEVER make is, I only ever pay with PayPal. If the seller is having an issue and my payment won't go through, I ask them to fix it. If they won't and they ask me to pay via bank, I walk away. Plain and simple as that.

I also don't buy pick up items from interstate, without first contacting the seller to see if they'll post it. If they refuse, I don't buy. If they are happy to post, I wait for an invoice so they can add the postage cost. It's really not that hard. I never assume anything.

Yes ebays suggestions are noted but i dont believe they are correct as strictly they did not check the sellers add that included paypal as an option both in face add and in payment options and allowed this to be substituded. So when the seller can change the payment method ( and i understand  they can do this) but this paypal option should also have been removed from add and be strictly bank transfer or cash only) they still have an obligation to check.

I have used paypal even for 99 cent purchases for the last two years and especially for overseas and many interstae purchases so i am familiar with the refunds process But as i am not privy to all the inner process that allow adds to be placed so payment method is by direct bank transfer only after purchase.

Its not the poor me and i dont feel sorry for myself. But i do have a gripe with sellers that dont honour their obligations,or they dont get their price and cancel sale immediately after auction. Also the schill bidding that is rife in the whole scam bidding with  different accounts etc I have long grown out of that sort of **bleep**.and avoid most of the scams. You can only go on feedback, and to the sellers bids to see which seller is bidding with their different ebay acounts. since ebay changed who bidder id is(shortened).

Thats all we can rely on FEEDBACK, i have been through power sellers going broke leaving many a buyer owed money/items and ebay did sweet f a and because of their failing customers introduced some pissy reforms, so i wont go into ebays/paypals poor money back guarantee history.

And yes i have paid for many of ebaysand my own .mistakes and beieve a bit more security to buyer and seller is due.

I just dont like the standard rant scipt read that they respond with. Sure i have lost some money other people loose millions through banks ,insurance ,scams, bad contracs, sales, investments. I can easily live and go on without $600 but i want to make a point.

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

Are you actually reading other experienced sellers replies? It doesn't seem so. If the seller refuses to accept Paypal just walk away, you don't have to pay by bank deposit. The seller can't remove their Paypal (or other safe method) option which is why it was there, and you should have used it and not accepted any excuses. Why are you keeping on about it, you made a mistake, learnt from it, and now you have to move on.

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

A seller CAN'T list without PayPal (or another safe payment method, of which bank deposit is not). If you try and list without including PayPal, you get big error messages come up. It can't physically be done. Even for pick up items where the seller prefers cash on pick up, they still have to list PayPal as a payment option. Thems the rules.

Some sellers will fiddle with their PayPal account so buyers can only pay vis bank transfer. If they try to pay via PayPal it won't go through. Avoid those sellers like the plague. Most sellers do it to avoid the fees, which in the big scheme of things aren't that high. Not compared to eBay's fees. Other sellers do it to scam buyers.

I have used bank deposit a few times, but only from sellers whom I've bought from many times previously. I'll never use it for a first time sale. Too much can go wrong.

If you're not going to follow eBay's suggestions, or any one else here that has tried to help, then we can't help you. It has nothing to do with eBay checking the ad. They didn't need to check the ad because ALL ads will have PayPal as an option, otherwise it can't be submitted.

If they are the rules how can this have occured 99.9% of my transactions have been through paypal and confirmed with paypal. The item had payment by paypal direct deposit and cash in its add. Went to pay after buy it now was directed that this transaction can only happen with direct deposit so no paypal allowed, funds available in account

This is what  has occured the account was tampered with to pay by direct transfer. So my point is that this should not have occured or been allowed by ebay or paypal. Surely it is simple pogramming to prevent sellers from manipulation accounts against ebay/paypal policy. So if all adds have the paypal payment agreement ,tell me how it can be manipulated by seller so i can do it. It seems totally ludicrous that sellers who are bound to offer paypal can change this without some sort of agreement with ebay or paypal. So yes i can now see that this was a deliberate scam by the seller to rip ebay, paypal and buyer off ..

Ebays and everyones suggestions dont provide a solution and  I am investigating all options presented.

In order to correct what is a loophole that scammers can use i suggest is more a problem to protect all parties is to remove the option of changeing methods of payment to reflect the ability to manipulate account settings to prevent this occuring.

And the good news is unless this is a hoax email

"Good news! eBay Customer Support has reviewed the case and made a final decision. We issued you a full refund of AU $605.60 on 24 Mar, 2017"

So what was it that changed their minds

Re: NEW SCAM ALERT

If you want to see if the email is a hoax, you can do two things...

1- ring ebay or get ebay to ring you to check

Or..

2- wait several days to see if money is returned to original funding sorce. (Ie: bank account)

You can follow this suggestion unless you consider it does not provide a solution.

Maybe the squeakiest wheel gets the oil?

Who knows why ebay has changed it's mind.   You were very lucky.  I have never known ebay to cover a bank deposit payment, ever.
