Netflx subscription, a Scam

There is an item being sold on eBay described as a 12 months subscription to Netflix for USD$16.00. Based on that description I bought. After that the seller provided me a login/password. It is then I discovered it was paid month-to-month not 12.  After making some enquiries I found out that many sellers do this and some have just shut down after 2 months or so, hence buyer left with no subscription and seller pockets yr cash.  Now before I go any further let me say it is possible to pay Netflix in advance for 12 mths or deposit any funds you wish them to hold. 

As things stand I demanded a refund from the seller on the basis that it was advertised as a 12-mth subscription, which it is not. That is a false and misleading description. The seller responded he would not give refund. So I asked eBay for help (using chat) and after describing the problem was told that it was not a physical product so no refund guarantee.This means that eBay condones such deceptive description, which under Australia Consumer Laws I am sure would not pass the test. In fact, eBay even suggested I contact the local Consumer Affairs in this State (Western Australia)...I pointed out in response that as the seller is overseas that would be pointless.

But my point is that it would seem I can today set up a page on eBay and advertise a 12 months subscription of Netflix, Hulu etc - and only in fact enter into a month to month agreement with the streaming service.  If later for whatever reason I cannot afford to continue the fund the service, i just stop. eBay accepts this on the basis is it not physical product so you can falsely describe it! Any views on this?

Why would you even bother buying netflix on ebay?

Buy it from netflix period.

And yes as it is a digital listing not physical you will not get your money back.

I can see a few listings for Netflix subscriptions. They have titles like:

Netflix Subscription 6 Month Warranty

People presumably read that as Netflix Subscription 6 Month, plus warranty, when in reality it's actually saying Netflix Subscription, plus 6 month warranty (and by warranty, I presume they mean whatever digital code they provide has an expiry date). The listings themselves (that I looked at) state no time period the subscription will last.

But then there are even worse ones, that say this...

"12 months access to Netflix, account works on all devices

1 off payment which will give you access to netflix for 12 months
accounts may stop working but replacement accounts will be provided during the 12 month warranty period

THESE ACCOUNTS ARE SHARED PLEASE KNOW THIS BEFORE PURCHASING."

Those ones are clearly using highjacked account logins to provide this service to people, and when they get blocked from one, they may or may not send their buyers another login. That's probably what the supposed "warranty" period is for, in that they are advertising guaranteed access for that long, even if it's via several logins.

These are the Australian boards, not the US ones.

But in any case, the T & C's state they do not cover electronically delivered goods.

You bought from someone in Singapore that has 78 negs and 72 neutrals.

Seems like ebay is not the place for you to shop.
