U keep sending me Please pay now?Im still waiting reply from the seller on total amount which includes postage,then u people decided to do maintenance on a friday night the in my opinion the best night for trading,send msg etc,etc.i dont understand.

You are not contacting eBay - we are members like yourself. Get the sellers contact details and call them, or wait until tomorrow when maintenance is finished.

There are no eBay staff members here. These boards are manned by other members.

The reason you are getting those messages is probably because the seller has the listing set to 'Immediate payment required'. Nothing to do with eBay. And the time to ask the seller about postage is before you buy. If the seller does have immediate payment set, they won't be able to send you a combined invoice anyway, Friday or not.

Dave, if the item is set for instant payment required, the buyer would not get reminders to pay as the purchase would not have proceeded. 

I may be looking at the wrong item but if it is the item from 5/2, that is pick up only,  no need for an invoice there as you would pay cash when you pick it up, contact the seller and arrange a time to do so, may be pull their details and phone them,  If they don`t respond, one can assume they didn`t get the price they wanted, so report them for non performance and leave FB accordingly.

The buyer is waiting for a postage cost, so if it's a pickup item I suspect the seller doesn't want to post it. Did you contact the seller before you bid/won the item scorpion?

Scorpion, don't pay much attention to those things. Focus on the communication you have with the seller. Often those Please Pay Now things are just a reminder incase people have forgotten but in your case they can simply be deleted.

Friday is generally not a very good time to have auctions ending.  Fridays are often the busiest days in the office, then people go for drinks after work, or they go out for dinner, to see a show, to party, disco......etc.  Friday is the night least people stay by computer.  Anyway, the maintenance is usually done afternoon, and is all finished by early evening.  It has to be done sometimes.

scorpion totally off topic, but why are you offering PAYPAL for a boat?

you do realize that there is no buyer or seller protection with paypal for pick up items?

if your buyer was dishonest and put in an unauthorized c/card transaction claim on paypal in 2 or 3 months time, Paypal would take the then grand from YOUr bank account??

while you have no bids, Id suggest you do a revision and remove the paypal option (it is one of the very few ebay categories that allow items to be offered WITHOUT paypal)

Regarding what you said....Can you offer some clarification on this please:

On one of my selling IDs, I had something for pick up only, but also had the PayPal and DD methods for payment.  Then after reading what you advised, I went to revise, tried to delete both PayPal and DD methods of payment but it came back with a message saying that I had to choose at least one of those methods to complete the listing.  

So I choose PayPal and in my discription stated that it's pick AND cash only.

Because eBay insists that I need to give at least one of those options for payment and if the buyer chooses PayPal over cash, then there is no seller / buyer protection and it can still turn sour for me.

Do you (or anybody else) have any suggestions on how to cover myself here?
