Not sent by registered post in spite of description?

I recently won an auction at a good price, and the description said the item would be sent by registered post.

I had bought from that seller before and he had always sent me a tracking number.

This time he didn't send me a tracking number and he won't answer my messages.

The item hasn't arrived yet. If he didn't send it by registered post, what sort of feedback should I leave if I like the item? Neutral, saying for example that I like the item but it was not sent by registered post as described or negative altogether?

I suspect that the seller is trying to make up for the good price....

"Not sent by registered post in spite of description?"

But you don't even have the item yet ? How do you make the assumption that the seller is trying to gain a few dollars by not sending it Registered when you have no proof yet ?

No offense but you sound like you find leaving feedback a bit of a game . It's dead serious for some sellers and anything less then positive feedback can have serious repercussions for a seller.

You haven't even received the parcel , and if/when you do you still have the option of negotiating with the seller if ( quite possibly by mistake) they didn't use Registered mail for a partial refund etc.

I send 3 parcels yesterday , one Registered , 2 Trackable but I haven't as yet messaged the buyers with the tracking numbers as my wallet is in another room and I have some work to finish on the PC . Your seller may be busy too.

You suspect a lot of things but won't you feel silly if it arrives Registered .

Keep in mind also, if you do decide to neg or neut the seller over something this petty, there is a very high chance they will block you and if this is a seller you like to purchase from regularly then that could be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Well, I did ask him for an explanation.... The parcel was sent a few days ago by the way, so he would have had time to send the number, particularly after I asked for it.

Re: Not sent by registered post in spite of description?

The seller not using registered post is his risk, not yours, so there is really no reason to leave a neutral or negative.

If it doesn't turn up, the seller has to replace or refund.

If however you paid extra for registered and it isn't sent registered, you could ask the seller for a refund on postage or leave a neutral.

What many buyers don't realise is that a few negatives can destroy a sellers business.

Not because of the negative itself, but because after receiving a few negatives a sellers items will practically disappear (causing thousands of $$ in lost sales) from the search results unless they are making a huge number of sales per month.

For this reason, most sellers will not do anything intentional to make you unhappy, like trying to saving $3.00. In all likelihood they have made a simple mistake or didn't realise it was listed as being sent with registered post.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt for now and if they don't respond or are rude about it, then consider the negative or neutral.

Yes, I was thinking of a neutral myself if I like the item (I hope it arrives!). A plus for the item (and the price of the item itself) and a minus for the postage (and lack of communication) becomes a neutral.

That sounds pretty good. As a buyer I would probably want to know why it wasn't sent as described but if the item is as described and overall I'm happy with the purchase, then I'd probably either leave a neut or a positive but definitely mention the postage situation.

That is all your assumption.  If he always posts registered, there is the possibility that it was sent registered.  Maybe he is in hospital, maybe somebody died, maybe his computer crashed, maybe he did not get your message, maybe he has gone away for a little while, maybe he cannot find the registration receipt from the PO.  There can be whole myriad of perfectly good explanations why he has not responded.

And I can see every seller reading this topic rushing for their BBL ๐Ÿ™‚

If it is the Ugg boots then there is certainly sign something may be amiss with the seller; he has received large number of FB over the past week, but he has not left any for more than week.  Although in the past he seemed to leave FB on daily basis.

Re: Not sent by registered post in spite of description?

I had noticed that myself this afternoon (I checked the feedback he left to see if he had been online in the last few days) and noticed a steep decline in the number of feedback he left. Maybe there is really some sort of problem in his life. I hope it is just too much work and not something serious.

How did you ever think of the UGG boots when he hasn't left feedback and my profile is private anyway? Good detective indeed!! ๐Ÿ˜„

Mariq, we can all see what you have bought....and it has nothing to do with private feedback.  Just do an advanced search by bidder.
