Order has not been sent after 6 days (fake australian user from china)

I think i have purchased off a scam account claming to be australian when they are not, in the photos they use an australian post label and claim to be from australia, so i purchased an item for my sons birthday in 2 weeks expecting it to be here on time considering the account claims to be australian and that they use australia post. its been 6 days since i have paid for the item and still has not been sent, ive contacted them numerous times they said they would send it 2 days ago and it still wasnt sent so i asked whats happening and now im being ignored, after looking at their feedback ive noticed others have said they never recived the item and that it took a month or longer to arrive within australia even though they claim to be located in australia. I think they are a chinese made account living in china and lying about their location and even scamming people not even sending the items. what can i do about this? thank you

Not all sellers mark an item as sent,  so that is why you wait for the EDD before bouncing around.

As for previous feedback,  I looked at previous feedback you have left for other sellers, and sadly you have previously left bad feedback for exactly the same situations.

I stand by my previous comments,  look at feedback before buying, instead of a trip to the forum to complain about something that hasnt happened yet.

Yes well it's been 8 days now and it's not posted. Hence my post

It's based on 'working days'....not weekends or public holidays

@haylz-21,

In a perfect world, everything posted would be scanned at each stage - certainly at the point of being handed over for delivery.

Every purchased item would be dispatched that same day.

eBay buyers would be notified immediately.

The notification would indicate (correctly) that the item has been shipped, not merely that a shipping label has been generated.

Thereโ€™d be no delivery hiccups - no mail strikes, no volcano debris, no bad weather, no fire, no carelessness, no theft, no COVID, etc.

I have learned to take the imperfections of reality into considerationโ€ฆ

  • Posted items are not always scanned at even the important stages. I had parcels in my AP app still showing as not yet delivered months after they had arrived, and items whose only scanned events were โ€œon board for delivery todayโ€ and โ€œ deliveredโ€โ€ฆ with no hint that they were ever posted!
  • While some purchases are despatched same day, it isnโ€™t always the case. If buying on eBay, we canโ€™t assume itโ€™s so. Look at the sellerโ€™s handling time for an indication. Even outside eBay, I donโ€™t assume same-day despatched; for example, I recently ordered an escape-proof cat harness, and wasnโ€™t surprised that it took 2 or 3 days to be despatched.
  • If you need something by a certain date, online buying poses risks. Always look at the EDD (Estimated Delivery Date) shown on an eBay listing to know the eBay-generated delivery date range, and especially note the latest EDD rather than the earliest. Buttress that date with at least a few more days because delays can happen. If that timeframe is too late for you, then only buy in the knowledge that the item could very well LEGITIMATELY arrive past the time when you needed it. Time-sensitive purchases may mean looking at a local business with stock to hand, where you phone up in the morning and specifically ask if the item can be sent express that same day.
  • eBay code has items showing as โ€œshippedโ€ when the label is generated within eBay. It doesnโ€™t mean the itemโ€™s actually been shipped. This is especially problematic when it comes to Chinese eBay sellers who have partnered with logistics companies where AP postage information can be generated immediately while the goods havenโ€™t even left China.
  • Some sellers donโ€™t mark the item as posted, even when it has been. This is particularly the case when itโ€™s being sent untracked.
  • If shipping information is entered manually, and thereโ€™s even a single digit wrong in the tracking number, obviously the tracking wonโ€™t updateโ€ฆ I had this happen just last week (extra 9 in the tracking number).
  • My advice about delivery dates isโ€ฆ only start to be concerned once the EDD is up. At that time, I check tracking, or possibly contact sellerโ€ฆ and if no delivery after a week, thatโ€™s a reasonable time to open an INR claim. If the item turns up after that, I can always resend payment.

Again you are wrong and providing false information in your comments, I had an issue one time with a seller who never posted the item and never did, it was a scam account so yes I left feedback for that person only because they never sent it and it was never received. There's not "numerous" and you know that.   Anyways this thread has ended now as I received respectful advice from other members. Goodbye.

It makes no difference where the item is listed as located.

Just because it is listed as located in Australia, you can't assume you'll get it in days. You need to look at the expected delivery dates.

What did they say?

Sellers are well aware that if an item doesn't arrive by the expected delivery date, then a buyer can open a claim for an item not received. As a result, they are usually pretty careful to list a delivery date they can meet.

If the ETA is a month away, please do not assume that because the listing says item located in eg Melb, that the ETA can't possibly take that long and you'll have it much sooner.

Unfortunately it is not considered a scam account by ebay if the seller lists items as being here when the seller is registered overseas. It is assumed they could have a warehouse here.

You can check seller's location by clicking on their name then in the section 'about'.

PS Sometimes sellers fail to mark an item as sent. It is extremely annoying when this happens as you have no way of knowing if it is on its way or not. Very unprofessional of a seller, in my opinion, if they normally operate that way.

The fact the  seller has not responded to you is not good. You'd think they would reply or mark it as sent if it had been.

However, power is with you. If it doesn't arrive by the ETA, open an ebay claim immediately for item not received.
