Hi all, just need to know what to do next please.
I had an item I bought over 1 month ago that has not arrived. I have been in contact with the seller, who has been great and I advised them I would open a dispute with paypal so as to give us both extra time for the item to arrive but still be protected (45 day window)
Dispute was opened today and the seller has not responded via the dispute but HAS refunded my money.
The problem is that the seller has sent me the money as if they are a buyer so paypal has taken a fee from this. Is this right?
Also does this mean because it is showing as a payment from a buyer rather than a refund from the seller, does this mean they could potentialy put in a claim to get this money back?
I have only ever had to do one other paypal claim and the payment was refunded through the dispute process, much different to what is now showing.
What should I do next?
Thanks

trish, you can edit your post after it has been posted. You have about four minutes before the edit function is no longer available. Just go to the 'Options' link in the top right corner and choose 'Edit Reply'.
I'll even edit this post so you can see that the header of the post will indicate that the post has been edited.
Lesson over.

Just escalate to a claim if you haven't already, they are never going to understand. I wasn't advising you to accept the refund and close the dispute but to continue with the dispute and then refund after you had your money back!

Sorry Pj I was just explaining why I would be concerned if I accepted the payment instead of a refund via the dispute.
I am waiting until next week to see if it turns up. Have had a lot of OS items arrive late so I am trying to do the best by both of us.
Seller has now said they will refund through the dispute so I think this too is a good reason to wait a little longer. I still have time up my sleave.
Thanks for your advise.
To the poster that explained how I can edit my post. Thank you I tried to find an edit buttom but could not. Maybe when I checked back it was too late. Or I'm just blind. lol

Zenremix I think you are right. I don't think they are doing anything on purpose.
As for OS items. For the price I pay for these I am more than happy to wait for them to arrive. It wouldn't be worth it to pay for faster post.
The only reason I opened the dispute in the first place was to allow more time for the item to arrive but still make sure I was protected just in case.
I expect at some point for some post to go missing, take extra time etc especialy from OS so it doesn't bother me at all as long as I get either the item or a refund.

Trish, the edit button is in the drop down menu at the top right of your post.
It only appears for 5 minutes after you post...after that it is gone for good.

Good news. This item has arrived. Lucky I refunded their payment. I have closed the dispute and left +FB.
One thing I didn't realise and I don't know how I overlooked it, but this item was the first of a number of items I bought from this same seller. I missed the fact it was the same seller. (face palm)
All the other items that I bought after this one had already arrived so something has gone a bit odd. Also this item the box was crushed unlike the others that had arrived fine. So my guess is at some point it has been lost and squashed but then found again, hence the delay.
Alls well that ends well.
Thanks for all your help everyone.
