Phone charger power bank

For all the people out there that want to know, ther is no such thing as any portable phone charger that is anywhere near 10000mAh or larger that fits in your handbag.

eBay in fact let anybody sell anything here under any conditions.

As example one portabe charger power bank is sold on here in many places. Same claim 100,000mAh. this is 100Ah or car barrey size. Others claim 50,000mAh for the same unit, others claim 60,000mAh for the same unit, others claim 20,000mAh for the same unit, others claim 16,000mAh for the same unit. The truth is that it is 5400mAh or 5.4Ah. For most phones this would be 5 charges. Some can be as little as 2 charges.

You are warned, don't be ripped off.

Anyone with a modicum of sense would buy an item like this in a local store anyway where they can see what they are getting and also get a proper guarantee.

I would note that lithium batteries are significantly smaller than lead-acid batteries, so that comparison is not apt.

I dont know about that, most phone batteries are around 2,500mAH, they are VERY small, now compare them to a large power bank, it can EASILY be 50,000mAH  100,000mAH is not a car battery, size,  ive never seen them in that size, I know the tiny ride on lawnmowers are 100AH, they fit under the seat. Ive actually replaced it with a 300AH same size battery.its tiny.

My phone has a 6500 mAh battery and is the same size and barely heavier than any other phone.

NOT TRUE.... i bought one from a store in my area and its rated at 10,000mAh and fits in my pocket no probs. its smaller than my phone which i consider "very small and very portable". 90x60mm x 20mm thick and about 200 grams...and yes it works perfectly..

Re: Phone charger power bank

if i wanted such an item i'd visit a real bricks and mortar store and get a name brand one to look at, decide its what i want, then go online looking to see if anyone reputable was doing a deal at a better price. not buying blind on ebay.

Re: Phone charger power bank

It might well claim those ratings, but I'd bet it could not supply 10 amps for one hour, which is what that statement says. A 10 amp load is a ten amp load, regardless of whether it is connected to a phone or a lamp. To charge a phone it would be an easy task and would do it several times, but a lamp load would soon show it up, meaning that the 10 amp per hour is after all a furphy, as per what the op is saying.

Re: Phone charger power bank

I'd agree with the OP.

Whilst it is possible to have batteries with the capacity that is listed, there is absolutely no guarantee that you will be getting anywhere near that.

Stick to name brands from your local retail store for items like that.
