Please help, I'm at a loss.. What options do I have, if any??

I won an auction for 3 concert tickets. I was going through some **bleep** & they buyer agreed to let me pay in 2 instalments. He didn't want me paying by PayPal due to fees being taken out (yeah, you can see where this is heading). He agreed to lower the cost of the tickets by $145.

Upon winning the auction, he sent me an invoice he got for purchasing the tickets from the Sydney Opera House.

I paid by bank transfer. 2 payments of $650 in total. I provided him with receipts of said transactions. Now he's saying that he only received $200.

....In his last email he stated:
"I today received an invoice from ebay for $103 for the sale of the morrissey tickets to you however still no sign of $450 or anything further from you (including an email) other than the $200. I have to tell you I have no money to pay my credit card bill let alone the ebay bill and am beginning to wonder whether you have even transferred any more than the $200. I am letting you know that if I do not receive the additional $700 balance in my account by close of business Thursday I will cancel the sale and return $97 to your account subtracting $103 to cover the cost of the ebay sale and my losses.
IF I receive the FULL amount of $700 in my account by COB Thursday the tickets remain yours and I will cover the cost of the eBay sale."

I then contacted eBay & was told that I should not have paid via bank transfer (yes, I know I am stupid, please don't tell me something I already now. I was stupid & desperately wanted these tickets). I was also told that the conversations should've been done through eBay, not me replying to his emails (no. I didn't know this).

I messaged the seller on eBay, replied in length to wrote he wrote & stated that he couldn't cancel the auction & keep my money, & that I will be opening up an investigation with my bank, which will take 10-15 business days. No reply.

Thursday has come & gone, he's still not replying, hasn't sent any of my money, nothing... Ebay have said that they're trying to get in touch with him.

What do I do know? Is there anything I can do?!

Yes I know I was stupid to pay via bank transfer.. It was a rather daft thing for me to do. What I would like to know now, is, what (if anything) can I do? Should do? Or have I lost my my money as well as the tickets...?

to moz there are always 2 stories, why dont you tell us the item number ,and how much the tickets went for , so you are saying after the auction [the seller said to you i would like to give you a discount of $145] mmmmmmmmmm

can you see there is a confllict of the price from $650  to $900 , all i have said is this does not add up and things happen when tranfering money.

Joe, thats because ebay told the op not to pay any more money to the seller, for the love of god give it a rest.

sorry i must of missed the part ebay told the op not to send more money, 

what part dont you understand the time frame was thursday night to be paid in full [she did not pay in full even if the other$450 was in the sellers account ,then she has broken the agreement fron both of them .... 

its easy to say why does the seller cancil it ,well that can take a further 4 days , then by the time he sells them and the new buyer pays for them and posts them ,the concert might be over , 

[by the way i won some tools on auction for $345  then the seller messaged me with the details and said I am going to take $100 of the tools so just pay $245.    [do you know what happened next [I woke up from my dream]

Mistakes do happen. I checked my credit card statment yesterday and it shows 3 entries - 2 for $1999.00 and one for $1000.00 taken by sportsbet in Vic. I have NEVER dealt with them . The next day there was 3 reversals ..... obviously someone got a number wrong somewhere !

Still sctraching my head at someone would pay that much for tickets to ANY concert (Unless it was the Led Zepplin reunion tour ... )

correct  stick  things happen or the seller could be a crook , also its for I think 3 tickets and must be very good seats.

The tickets are for May 31st according to the listing Joe, so there is still time to get this all sorted out. She has bought excellent seats and on that night there is only standing room left and it's way, way, way back from the stage. The Saturday is completely sold out and there are limited seats for the other 2 shows. I've not heard of this artist, but if it was a concert I wanted to go to, I'd kill for those seats 3 rows back from the stage.

hi sheep  this is the problem i have asked for the item number  which woud clear a lot , somehow you know the item and its for the 31st may ,the buyer says its the 26th may  ,i am comfused as normal.

its not a long time , a lot of you guys dont understand why they had to be paid for by the 24/4 , its the last day the owner of the tickets can change the address of were the opera house sends the tickets on the 12/5 , which means the buyer can have the tickets sent to there house, its also a protection of seller selling -real tickets .ths is why these tickets were sold by all other sellers in the same way pay by the 24/4 , it makes the tickets 100% real   , as there are too many scams out there ,ala fake tickets or posting them after the event and so on , the tickets are lucky to be worth half the price after the 24/4   as they can be fakes , and that is the reason these $109 tickets went so high. now even if the buyer paid $650 in total in 2 payments , she did not pay $900 in the 2 payment agreement they had ,

so giving back all her money is not an option , they would be sold and any difference to the new price would have to be made up and then send her the rest of the money .  [thats if the find the other $450]
