I have recently purchased a number of books from a seller who advised that he combined post for multiple purchases. Weight of the books is around 7 - 8 kg. On invoice the seller kindly gave a $10 deduction on postage leaving a post cost of $65. Two 5 kg. satchels would cost around $36 or if boxed and mailed, post cost with tracking would be around the same as the box would weigh maybe 8 kg. ( Aust Post cubing would not affect cost ) I dont mind paying a bit extra for packing and handling but $40 !!!! Have tried to contact seller but no reply. Worst case senario is I pay up and leave multiple Negative feedbacks. Any suggestions on handling this appreciated.

Thank you to all of the constructive advice from those genuinly trying to assist. Seller has finally answered a message with " items sold cheap enough so he is charging the high post cost." As mentioned in my original post, I dont expect sellers to pack items for nothing and dont stress over reasonable packing and handling fees. I appreciate it may take the seller time to pack and a few dollars in materials all of which I am happy to pay for, but $65 for five books is a bit rich. As I believe ebay works best when buyers honour thier purchases I will be paying, but following up with five Neg. feedbacks.

Your seller will probably get the negatives removed. You were aware of the postage costs when you bid on the items and you were given a postage discount as promised. The time to query the postage was before bidding, not after winning the items.

That is for individual items, curraone. If the seller combines, then they are within their rights to charge full postage for each item, no matter how they send them. So they are probably not breaching policy in this case.
