Postage time and cost to Australia

When is ebay going to dump Pitney Bowers and go back to allowing the Seller to choose the best and cheapest shipping method.
Global Sipping is of no benefit to Sellers or Purchasers
Pitney Bowers consistently charges more and takes longer to deliver items from ebay.
I made another purchase on the same day of a similar item, but not through ebay, and it arrived two weeks earlier.

Pitney Bowers will have to up there game

Global shipping gives sellers protection again scammer buyers

Pitney Bowers (sic) do not deliver within Australia

Hasn't that been replaced anyway?

You will need to contact them to tell them to lift their game

Both buyers and sellers can choose whatever postage method they wish

Buyers are aware of the charge and estimated delivery date before buying, as well as the postal service being used

What is your question for other members?

Plus you have posted the same thing in a number of feedbacks you have left

Not sure why you think anyone is 'locked in'

Pitney Bowes is no longer used by eBay.

They were replaced  with eBay International Shipping many moons ago. It is of great "benefit" to sellers as eBay takes care of all INR & INAD Cases & removes negative feedback.

when the Global Shipping Program was introduced, many USA sellers were opted-in without their knowledge.

Many of these sellers were sellers who DID NOT sell internationally i.e. their items WERE NOT available for purchase outside of the USA.

For many, they didn't know when their item sold to an overseas buyer because the shipping address provided to them was a USA domestic address (Pitney Bowes).

eBay's reasoning was that it helped sellers by attracting overseas bidders/buyers while maintaining their wish to ship domestically.

How do I know this?  Partly through reading threads here on the discussion boards, and partly through my own experiences.

I once asked a USA seller, that had GSP on a listing, a question about their item and they replied with "I don't sell to overseas members".  I informed them that their item was available to Australia through the GSP.  They had no idea, and they blocked me.

It is not entirely fair to complain about all items that have GSP because, without GSP, many would simply not be available for bidding or buying due to sellers not wanting to sell overseas.

"Global Sipping is of no benefit to Sellers or Purchasers"

So, in many instances, GSP helps both sellers and buyers.  Sellers get to ship domestically, and buyers get to buy items that otherwise would not be available.  This is especially true with the introduction of eBay's Money Back Guarantee, as any claims under MBG do not result in the GSP seller refunding, eBay does that.

The downside is, of course, there is a price to pay for wanting that item that would not have been available but for the GSP.

(there are ways around the GSP, but I'm not going to share those today ... sorry).

Exactly. I told an Ebay rep that this is the reason I have stopped buying anything from the USA now. Putney Bowes are price gouging.

You are wrong. Many times I asked USA sellers if I could have other more economical shipping options, and they always told me that the shipping rates are set and out of their control. This is why I stopped buying from sellers in the USA. You can google many forums discussing this same issue.

And as has been said, Global Shipping gives sellers protection they are not going to get if they do not use it

How many sellers do you expect would happily do this? and why should they?

Ebay reps and other members do not care if you buy from the USA, there's no need to keep saying it

Once again, Pitney Bowes has not been in the picture for ages now

Neither Putney Bowes nor Pitney Bowes are eBay shipping agents any more.

Did you read the thread, or just the OP? The way to avoid embarrassment is to read the whole thing before commenting
