Price Differences between Australian Ebay and OS Ebay

Why when I am logged into Ebay Australia an Item listed in Canada is US$165 and on Ebay US site it is listed for US$150.  Now I had noticed this before with UK and European Ebay sites but didn't think much of it.  But today I did. This represents and increase of US$15 for no apparent reason. Plus add the Australian Government GST (10%) on top of this plus the expensive shipping and GST on top of that and it all becomes too expensive.  So who is responsible for adding the extra US$15.  I doubt it is the Seller and obviously it must be Ebay.  Now I realise Ebay don't need to justify anything to anyone, even the US government, but this would appear to be blatant what's the word, starts with T.

Do they really want us to keep using them or not.  How much money do they really need to make and what benefit is a Company like this to the World.  I'll probably get banned for saying this but hey this is free speech which is legal in my country.

And whilst I am at it.  Why has the cost of Shipping and Post skyrocketed worldwide in the 10 to 15 years.  With all the extra parcels going around the world things should be cheaper not more expensive.  Collusion is such a dirty word but sometimes where there's dirt ....!

Different postage or tax rates between the 2 different countries?

Best way to avoid import cost is to buy Australian

Thanks for the Comment.  Not always possible to buy second hand 1950-60's parts from within Australia.  A better question would be why does the Australian Government charge gst on second hand goods sourced from OS.  New parts no issue, on postage charges I cannot really understand the rational but why not slug us another tax.  Accrding to Ebay the Price shown includes the 10% GST component but doesn't actually state this which makes it somehwhat unclear and misleading.  Basically it looks like one price if you deal in the US and one if you deal in Australia.  Lodged my dissatisfaction which will no doubt breed even more.

I see your problem, know nothing about cars so will bow to your knowledge.

No answer for you regarding the extra GST, import tax, but is the shipping GSP ?

eBay originally displayed the list price and added GST only once the item was in the cart and confirmed to be going to an Australian address.

This caused a flurry of complaints from buyers who were trying to sort prices by cheapest first (because prices minus GST weren't reflective of the amount they'd actually pay, and we're all used to GST-inclusive pricing), and / or from buyers who paid more than they were expecting because they weren't paying attention when they checked out and missed that GST had been added.

In the US, sales tax is added after the fact, so they can't use the format of GST-inclusive prices over there.

Basically, eBay can't win here - for Aussies, they break down the pricing into list price and GST in the cart, but not on the listing page.

Ebay should then make it clear that the price includes GST.  As this isn't explained and isn't obvious it does seem that there is one price if you are in the US and another if you are in Aus.  Even when I contacted Ebay Help they didn't know what was going on immediately and gave me a nonscensical answer.

Probably enough sleep lost on this one.
