Problem paying seller

Need advice please with Paypal transaction. I had tried to pay seller 3 times and coming up unclaimed. Seller and I messaging back and forth finally has said to go to Paypal. com and select "send money" option. From there enter email address she sent in Ebay invoice. Said she has contacted Paypal and her account with new email address is correct and all above board. Said she will again send me the Ebay invoice outling what to do.   Folks, I have no idea what's going on as I am only seeing the old Ebay invoice in purchase history which as mentioned I have tried to pay through 3 times and was coming up unclaimed. When I go into my Paypal account I can see her as a hotmail account not a name and also "unregistered". In all my years on Ebay I have only ever paid through Ebay checkout in my purchase history so what is this roundabout way of paying I'm supposed to follow?. I would greatly appreciate some assistance with this. Thanks.

Re: Problem paying seller

I wouldn't do it by the 'send money' to an email address sent on an invoice message, I would tell them to re-register the email address you have tried to send the payment to and they can then do the send money between their own PayPal accounts.  If the amount of the transaction isn't an amount you can throw away then I would advise you to stand your ground.

The seller will not be able to leave you negative feedback, and your three attempts at paying should shield you from any UnPaid Item case.

Re: Problem paying seller

Thanks Sir Sales. As mentioned I have never paid by the method this seller wants me to and I am very uneasy about all this. If the sale didn't go through the normal Ebay checkout process would I be right in assuming I may not have any buyer protection if the item wasn't sent etc and also that it would be a way of dodging Ebay's fees for the seller? I have done as you suggested and messaged her to re-register the email address. I would like to hear what other sellers think also. I have never had this much trouble with a seller before.

Re: Problem paying seller

As long as you tick the box to say yu are paying for goods you have the same buyer protection using the pay anyone link as you do paying through ebay. The ebay feess are charged as soon as the item sells and have absolutely nothing to do with payments made to Paypal.

The most probable cause of the problem is that the seller has a typo in the payment email address as it appears in the listing they created.

Re: Problem paying seller

Thanks PJ, yes of course there's no way they could bypass Ebay's fee for the reason you mentioned. I'm losing the plot atm as it's late and I'm tired but needed advice quickly as I have trouble sleeping when something isn't going to plan. Thank God there are sellers such as yourself and Sir Sales still up late. Thanks immensely to you both for your help and goodnight.

Re: Problem paying seller

Yes, PJ. I remember you posting on the board a while back that you spend 6 months here in our summer? And 6 months in the UK when it's winter here? Something like that. I was going to enquire last night if you were posting from UK as with the time difference it wouldn't be late for you as you mentioned but I was too tired.  The update on my problem is that I paid the seller last night through Paypal direct to the new ermail addy she had supplied and ticked the "goods/services" box. When I looked in my purchase history it was marked as paid as it would normally if going through checkout and today it's been marked as posted so I'm very happy. All in all a good learning experience really. Thanks again.
