Purchase history sequence

Just checking to see if I am doing the right thing. Made a purchase (won an auction). Chose Bank Deposit. Seller messages me the deposit details which means that I cant mark as Payment Sent. Few days later I message the seller to see if he has recieved the deposit. He says he has and, lo and behold the item arrives, all good. Purchase history still reads "Mark as payment sent". Should I just go and leave feedback? What would be appropriate feedback since he did not communicate to tell me of deposit recieved and item posted? Seller has 100% and 2500 trades, maybe he's just busy with Christmas and all? Thoughts?

Cheers. M.

Re: Purchase history sequence

Most sellers have their bank details in checkout (the pay now button).

These details are very hard to find for the uninitiated/newer buyers.

You need to scroll to the bottom of the pay now/checkout page away from the paypal tab at the top that is approximately the size of a large block of flats.....

past every other payment mode known to man that most people rarely use or even know what it is

down

....here....:|

to the bank deposit express icon ( which in relation to the pp icon is approximately half the normal size of the outdoor lavatory that you would expect  Snow Whites helper's use)

and then the icon will change so that the seller can see that you have sent payment....

As an aside some sellers do not mark bank deposit payments as paid as they do not know how to if the bank deposit express option is not used by the buyer which activates the payment sent icon (sellers just need to click on that icon to acknowledge payment).

However the drop down activity selections also have a function key which "marks item as paid"

Re: Purchase history sequence

The buyer should also mark the payment as payment sent. If bank deposit was picked as the payment method, there is no reason why you couldn't

This is the way that a seller can tell if the payment has been sent. Otherwise the seller would need to keep checking the account to see if the payment has been sent

Re: Purchase history sequence

the option is available for buyer under the drop down menu entitled "more actions" but I doubt that most expereinced bank deposit buyers even know that there is an option "payment sent" as they get the details from bank deposit express which automatically marks a bank deposit payment has been sent....  I find most bank deposit payers send a personal email and I respond in kind as soon as the payment appears

Re: Purchase history sequence

None of my buyers seem to have a problem finding the bank deposit option.

I suppose that is because they have experience with how eBay works. And their 0 or single digit feedback is a ruse.

I have people go through checkout and select Bank Deposit Express, but it's not marked as 'payment sent' until a couple of days later when the buyer has sent payment and marks it manually.

Re: Purchase history sequence

Just mark as payment sent, leave feedback and move on, all good.

Yep, all good.

I guess you're wondering about the Communication feedback, which is open to interpretation. In the end, when you sent them a message they did reply. It's not uncommon for a seller to forget to mark an item as posted.

Re: Purchase history sequence

viewmont1071,

"I find most bank deposit payers send a personal email "

They have no choice since the latest " if it's not broken let's break it" ebay changes to Checkout

Buyers now have to click "Complete Checkout" before the Seller's bank account details show.

There's no going back.

Now the  buyer can't have a look at the bank account details first, transfer the payment , add a message to the Seller in Checkout to let the Seller know that payment's been made and the reference used and then complete Checkout.

Another stupid change IMO.

I agree, there should be an email, one for buyers and one for sellers that has the top 20 common errors made sent on registration. Quite simple to do really.

Re: Purchase history sequence

Regardless of whether a buyer knows where the option is, the point is it's there and it makes things easier for a seller to see if the payment has been made, rather than rely on eBay messages which are (apparently) notoriously unreliable

If they are having such a hard time working out Bank Deposit, perhaps they should switch to PayPal to make things easier for themselves and the seller..

Considering the OP could see the Mark as Payment sent option, this would reveal that it's obviously not that hard to find

Re: Purchase history sequence

When a Paypal payment is made it's automatically marked as paid. It's up to sellers to click on sent.

" Calsof, your not just a pretty fish. " I can hardly comment about that without finding myself in trouble.....
