Purchased item but apparently I can't use the Global shipping program now.

Purchased item from the US. In the listing it read that the postage was US $76.85 International Priority Shipping to Australia.

Go to pay for item and it won't let me. Contacted Seller and apparently he sent an invoice without international shipping added so we try to adjust but ebay now tell me that it can't not be added to it needs to done with first invoice.-

So now because I can't use the GSP postage cost is now $292 and change, almost 4X the original amount.

Have sent 3 messages about this issue to the customer support and have received no response (typical ebay attitude 'if I ignore it it will go away') so contacted them online. Explained everything to customer support agent and just keep getting back dismissive reply's. Then receive a follow up response just asking me to see if seller can find a cheaper postage company. Tried that the only way to get it cheaper is the GSP. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Anyone out there that can actually help, I would be greatly appreciative.

Suggest the seller ask for help on the US boards-there's nothing you can do as the buyer IMO.

We have both tried them and they all do something different but always the same result. Nothing, they just find a way to dismiss us.

I meant actually ask on the US MEMBER boards like you are doing now-NOT contact ebay.

Suggest the seller send a mutual cancellation and start at the beginning with the transaction again:-)

There is no way ebay can sort out whatever the seller has done re the shipping. Why don't they just send you a Paypal invoice for the goods, as long as the invoice specifies goods you have full Paypal buyer protection even if the sale does not go through ebay.

If you do that ebay are happy because they got their fees, the seller is happy as they have made the sale and you are as happy as you were ever going to be regardless of how you made the Paypal payment.

My (limited) understanding is that the global shipping program is organised by ebay - the seller sends the goods to a US consolidator and ebay post it on. My guess is that there may be a cheaper shipping method that the seller could use but it won't give them seller protection...

I agree with the advice to cancel the sale and relist with a BIN price at whatever the item originally sold for....

The GSP is not organised by ebay beyond having negotiated the deal with Pitney Bowes.  The seller sends the items to Pitney Bowes who charge a very hefty fee to pack the item, do the paperwork and dispatch the item to its overseas destination by a very expensive postage service with USPS or a courier.

To put it bluntly, it is the lazy way out for sellers.  There is no reason that a seller can not provide the same service considerably cheaper by packing and doing the paperwork themselves.

Unfortunately the majority of US Business sellers have now been brainwashed into using the service.  If we have any hope of buying from the US with reasonable postage we must look for small(er) private sellers who are prepared to pack their own items, do the paperwork themselves  and will use a less expensive postal service.
