Removal of negative feedback

For the past couple of months I have been monitoring the feedback of a seller I purchased from. This came about after a nasty experience with this seller and my negative feedback I left was removed. This seller consistently manages to have negative feedback removed somehow and in most cases without the buyer being aware of it.

This to me is not fair on buyers that use feedback ratings to decide on using a seller or not. Not only that it shows just how flawed the feedback system is.

I have contacted ebay many times regarding this but they refuse to answer my query as I was not the buyer. Over the past 2 months the seller in question has managed to remove 17 negative feedback comments. This should not be allowed!

After all the complaining about AP on here (which I have joined in on), I would be locking the lift too. Never know when one will go postal.

Re: Removal of negative feedback

Welcome to eBay,

I love coming across a seller with 100% feedback. At one point, I thought that was meaningful.

Then I got the seller from hell.

I showed the emails from my recent experience with a seller to my work colleagues, and it came back

"That guy is a total jerk, he is just lying himself into a corner. It is best to cancel the deal, as clearly the stuff about Esperance was made up."

".....I think he wants to make money on the shipping as well.....he wants $300 and the freight will be about $30."

" .....dodgy as....he cannot drop it off at Esperance unless you pay him for an airline ticket to get there first."

".....he has to back out now, because he has lied himself into a remote town in Western Australia simply to scam another $50 on the freight costs when he lives in Perth the whole time."

"If he is as bad as what he sounds, you would have to question whether the product is actually original to begin with. Why doesn't he just drop it off in Esperance instead of dropping it off in Esperance???????? It's because he does not actually live there and the lie has gone too far for him to actually admit it...."

Now that is 100% feedback.

Re: Removal of negative feedback

Hi Guys,

After over 300 transactions on Ebay with a 100% feedback, I gave a seller negative feedback and Ebay withdrew it because the seller lodged a defamation claim. I ask Ebay to send me a copy of the claim and they refused on privacy grounds. What could be on a defamation claim form that would invade the privacy of the seller? Can't they blank that part out? I'm convinced that this seller has used this method many times in having negative feedback removed. Ebay support is so useless, after many emails back and forth,

they are now telling me that they can not remove the negative feedback that I have!!!! Totally lost the plot!  I'm stuck with a non-work home alarm system and Ebay are not interested !

Re: Removal of negative feedback

You don't have a negative feedback...you have a neutral feedback which has not had any effect on your 100% feedback.

There is nothing in that feedback that would qualify it for removal.  It is factual and not defamatory.  I would say you are very lucky it was not negative though....it was obviously not as described.

Ebay will never give you any information about how/why feedback was removed.  There are many reasons...use of bad language, mentioning a dispute, the seller being able to prove that the feedback is a pack of lies.....and on it goes.
