Absolutely crazy. Posted an item back overseas for a MBG return case and was told by eBay it would take approximately 10 days for the amount I paid for return shipping to be reimbursed by eBay. I uploaded tracking details and copies of the post office receipt on the 20th September and being international tracked parcel just over a kilo it wasn't cheap ($74). Received confirmation almost straight away that I would get the refund. Last checked with eBay a couple of days ago and they tell me it's still being processed.
Not sure if they have to attempt to recover funds from the seller first before paying the buyer back or if it's taken automatically (seller wouldn't agree to a resolution and insisted the item was sent back despite being told postage costs - I don't think they believed the cost I quoted, going as far as to copy/paste from the AP site the rate for a 250g sea mail parcel. Ironic since it was only a $96 item plus post to begin with).
Was told after tracking shows delivery the item refund is 24-48 hours. Not holding my breath
