Yesterday's Listing showed that the Seller will be back today.
So I bought.
Today the Listing (new Listing same Item) shows Seller will be back in 14 days time. This is confirmed by the auto reply that I got.
Is this a new stuff-the-buyers tactic?
I learnt a new lesson today and found another example of why buying on eBay is turning into an ordeal.
Never believe what you read and never assume the Seller will be back when they say they will be.
PS This guy is in Queensland (I in NSW).
Though I get auto replies when I email them, they did reply to my first email offering to REFUND my money WHEN THEY GOT BACK.

Matey, you don't even know yet that he isn't processing your order right now.
Wasn't he only due back today?
Maybe he got back and now wants more time to get on top of things now that he has returned from holidays
It is too soon to get antsy yet.
Just wait a bit and see what transpires, eh?

"BUT, for now, you really don't know if he has returned from leave today, is processing the orders waiting for him and updated his future listings and sales with the new notification of leave."
In the email he sent today he said he was overseas.
Although I also got an auto reply saying that he's away until 8(sic) July he did reply personally stating that he was overseas as do the auto replies.
I can understand being delayed a few days but 14 days is a bit rich.

Very good, that made me chuckle even if I have come across that before.

Now you do know that school holidays are almost on us here in Qld? Not an excuse just saying thats all. If you have paid via Paypal then you have 45 days in which to lodge a claim for Item Not Received. If item is received within this time then I would be looking at the original listing and seeing when/how long it states before your item will be posted to you. If item not posted within that timeframe then by all means trash their feedback stars on postage.
Just dont forget the 45 days.

Read my earlier post re: due back today.
"Maybe he got back and now wants more time to get on top of things now that he has returned from holidays"
His personal email said he's overseas as did the auto response.
"It is too soon to get antsy yet.

And what if he's doing a runner, it has happened before, how do you tell.

If he does a runner, you are covered by PayPal, aren't you?

The point that I am making is for other buyers not to jump the gun.
If they see a listing that shows the Seller is currently away DO NOT purchase until AFTER the date they say that they will be back on.
Even then email the Seller to confirm that they are available.
And don't be tempted by the short "delivered on or before" periods like I was, they are meaningless.
But then again if the Seller is really disreputable you'll get caught out whatever you do.

Not the point.
Besides I'm not the only customer.
I shouldn't suffer the inconvenience of being denied the use of my money because eBay favours dishonourable Sellers.
