Seller lodges unpaid item early

Went in to pay for an item early Th morning 4th Aug and seller had already lodged an unpaid item Case 48 hours after purchasing ?

If this is a standard email from ebay and not the seller then perhaps ebay shouldn't state the seller lodged the claim .

Or can sellers do this so early now ? I thought you had 5 days to pay .

I had been watching several other items from the seller which were ending in 2 days after my initial purchase but missed out on them .

Been buying on ebay for over 10 years and never paid anything late so I'm done buying on ebay now , I've also had several items from China not arrive for the first time in years .

It's no longer fun on ebay , goodness knows the hassles Sellers are having  if buyers get treated like this .

A case cannot be opened before exactly 4 days after sale date.

eBay send an automatic payment reminder at 48 hours.

Even if a case was possible before that time, it doesn't effect your account unless you don't pay and you have a further 4 days to pay.

Another point - if you were hoping to win other items from the same seller

in a couple of days time, it is polite to message the seller and ask them if that is ok.

Sellers are not mind readers.   They don't know that you're watching items

It's probably just a reminder from ebay or by any chance did you buy from the USA?

In the USA a seller can open a case after 2 days.

In the USA sellers can open a dispute in 48 hours.....many sellers have it set to open automatically.

I found this out the hard way some time ago.   Even though I had asked the seller about further bidding she had not bothered to turn the auto dispute function off.   Needless to say, when I found the dispute I paid it and did not bother with further bidding....she lost 3 more sales that were worth at least $400.

as a buyer ive never waited more than 24 hrs to pay, doubt ive ever waited more than 8 hrs.

if i buy something i have both the time and money to finalise the deal unless its an auction ending during the night, then i pay first thing in the morning.

i wonder if you were selling on ebay would you find it 'fun' waiting for payment from someone who hasnt even bothered to message you to say 'hey i know i owe you but cant pay for a couple of days is that ok?'

you get 4 days to pay, 4 more once a non payment dispute starts, thats 8 days! pretty good in my book.

stop whinging.

It might have been , invoice was in US dollars but Seller located in China.

not much point messaging sellers in China to mention your still bidding on items which they would have seen anyway .

how do you know the seller has seen you are bidding on other items?

a seller may have hundred if not thousands of items running, you really think they are sitting watching every bid as it comes in?

its your job to contact a seller to alert them of the fact you are bidding on other items. and ask if they will wait for the other items to end before you pay.
