Seller <Removed> Withdraws Supply to get Higher Price

Recently I purchased 100 face masks from a seller <Removed>

The Seller decided due to the current coronavirus market they could make more money (250% more) by only delivering 20 and reselling the rest on Ebay.

The seller ended up providing a full refund however I advised Ebay since the seller doesnt have an issue with stock the order should be completed as the seller is just profiteering.

Ebay didnt act on this so now they have closed issue which is just the easy way out?

I believe the seller should have been forced to complete the order?

eBay is not going to do anything about a seller registered in Hong Kong

Nor are they going to force any seller to send items after a full refund has been given

Is there are reason you want to insist on giving money to a seller like this, who is selling unsafe products, rather than buying off a decent, Australia based seller?

I know I certainly would not want to risk the quality of something like face masks from a seller like this one, even their feedback states the masks were not sealed, not even in a packet and were rubbish quality

You got 20 masks (forget the quality, it's what you ordered), AND a full refund.

Free masks  YAY.   No?

Some people are just hard to please.

Stay safe.  Wash your hands.

The only thing I can say - did you check sellers feedback before you purchased.  You got your money back - what do you want???

How?

eBay has a lot of control over what happens on the site, but they don't have the power to physically compel anyone to do anything. And just speaking personally - thank goodness for that. Smiley LOL

The situation might suck, but there's not a lot of point focussing on (or trying to demand) something that is impossible, and would actually be pretty scary if it wasn't.

I can see it now...

Two (at minimum) burly men dressed in red jacket, blue shirt, yellow tie and green pants, sporting knuckle dusters and with both jackets bulging suspiciously so that it's clear they're wearing shoulder holsters, coming barrelling into the seller's home. The seller is knocked down violently, slapped a few times, and then told to pack up those face masks and fulfill the deal, or the only mask they'll be seeing will be a death mask - their own.

That would be an awful lot of burly men... if every seller who didn't supply all of an order (or any of an order) were to be dealt with. I can't quite see eBay being able to afford such an army of burly men.

@thebidi1,

I frankly do not understand the mindset behind people buying cloth masks that are cobbled together in a Chinese factory without any quality control - falsely claiming to be "medical grade" or "surgical grade" or to protect the wearers in this pandemic.

Even a legitimate surgical mask will not meet the NIOSH certification for protecting the wearer from very small particles. See Proper N95 Respirator Use for Respiratory Protection Preparedness, posted by Maryann M. Dโ€™Alessandro... for details.

The only sort of mask that is designed to protect the wearer against airborne particles, having filters which protect against particles less than 100 microns in size, is a P2/N95 mask. (Legitimate, with its certification authenticated, manufacturer listed on the TGA website.) Viruses are less than 100 microns in size. Specifically, SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) is no more than 200 nanometres in diameter. (200 nanometres is 0.2 microns, just to clarify.)

โ2019-nCoV also has enveloped virions that measure approximately 50โ€“200 nm in diameter with a single positive-sense RNA genome. Club-shaped glycoprotein spikes in the envelope give the virus a crown-like or coronal appearance. โž

We can get through this... as long as we don't stand together, to (re)coin a phrase.

Smiley Very Happy I was thinking exactly the same thing.

The mind was boggling with countess type visions of the strong men arriving at the seller's door & demanding they hand over the goods.... or else.

Of course, it used to always work this way on ebay but no strong arm tactics allowed at the moment, social distancing rules and all that.Smiley Happy

Now I have to rewrite the burly men scene...

Two burly men colourfuly attired in eye-watering red jacket, blue shirt, yellow tie and green pants, sporting knuckle dusters and with both jackets bulging suspiciously so that it's clear they're wearing shoulder holsters, coming barrelling into the seller's home.

Burly man one (his name is Toby the Crusher) forms a fist and starts toward the seller.

The seller emits a high-pitched scream and begins babbling, "You can't hit me. It's against the social distancing rules. Coronavirus! You can't hit me!"

Toby the Crusher pauses, undecided, and turns to his fellow burly man, Frank "the Cementman" Stompanato. "Is dat how it is nowadays? We gotta do dis witout hittin' him?"

Frank casts a thick-lipped foul glare at the seller before facing his cohort. "Yeah. And we gotta sanitise our hands after we do dis little job. Doesn' matter. I brought my tommy gun and I can shoot him in de kneecaps from more than 2 metres away. So, you! Wise guy!" he gives a chilling smile as he turns to look at the seller. "You gonna pack up dose masks?"
