Hi all,
Looks like after 10 years on eBay Australia, I've been scammed of a fairly large amount ($1000's) mainly by in too much of a hurry and greed.
Seller had 400+ positive feedback and long term ebay account.
Discussions prior to sale all seemed fine.
Won the auction, was asked for immediate payment by eBay.
Proceeded via eBay checkout where there were only two options for payment listed - cash on collection and bank transfer.
Believing I was protected, I went ahead and paid. Sellers instructions were to send copy of receipt, which I did.
Browsing Ebay listings some hours later, I noticed a closed listing for the same item - same pics, same script, but different State.
Messaged seller who claimed to know nothing about it.
Negative feedback on the closed listing mentioned "beware of fraud and don't send money"
No further contact from seller.
Ebay not helpful and claim due to payment method, no protection whatsoever.
However, Ebays own rules state that the category the item was listed in (electronics) is not allowed to offer Bank Transfer as a payment option ? Yet it was there at checkout and led me directly to the sellers BSB and Account Details ?
I understand the faultnwas mine for being stupid enough to use bank transfer in the first place, but do eBay accept and responsibility for making this form of payment possible at checkout on their site ?
Ive asked for sellers contact details, but nothing has been supplied by seller, or ebay.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or is Acorn my only likely option?

Here's the screenshots I took showing eBay approved payment types by category;

Every catergory allows those payment options as long as they have a safe payment option as a second option so then you choose the safe payment option instead of bank transfer which unlike my option which was just bank transfer which I argued with ebay that how is a seller only allowed to have 1 option and all I got from ebay was "don't deal with sellers that deal outside of ebay"
I then said why is the seller allowed to list on your platform if it's known as dealing outside of ebay?
Got no help at all as it was out of ebay's hands.
Lucky I had an honest seller and I ended up receiving my item.

Quick question,
As sellers if you offer Credit Card/Debit Card do eBay require you to provide a genuine merchant id or can you just click on Yes I accept CC?
