Hi I bought an item that costs 2600 and tge seller sent me wrong item. I sent him a msg about the problem but still got no reply. Should I open a case to return item or should I wait until the seller responds?

There are no ' sides' - simply follow the policies.
Item not as described - received the wrong item - item not as photographed - etc etc.
If it is the wrong item - the seller has to provide a return avenue.
Do not do it yourself.

I know that seller has to arrange for the return. Seller has asked me to wait another 2-3 days to check with his supplier Payton and arrange a courier. But what I'm worried about is seller not refunding me full amount saying that it is not in original condition or it's been damaged in transit (which won't happen as I repacked it in original condition and it came in a sturdy wood packaging) But still he can lie if he doesn't want to refund me the full amount

In all honesty - this is what you get when buying through this platform.
Why not a B&M - where you can see the item - purchase the item - etc.
Know exactly what you are buying.
I think the most I have ever spent on eBay is around $59.99 - anymore - the store or actual online site is the only option.

I don't think the seller (or Paytons, if the parcel has to go back to them) would lie - but items can get damaged in transit of course. It does not happen all the time, but it happens. Maybe you can add insurance for your peace of mind in case it is not included.

Payton's should include insurance against damage in transit - it happens.
When you think about it - a return fare from Mel -Syd - around $165 - I'd be doing it in person. lol

Shouldn't the seller add that? He's the one arranging the courier. Also I see no reason why I should pay anything for this refund. I simply want my full money back because I was sent the wrong item
But with the amount of packaging done on the harp I don't see how it could get damaged in transit unless the courier is throwing it around

I don't know what eBay rules about insurance for INAD returns are. Maybe you can ask them in a live chat tomorrow.

You are worrying over something that isnโt likely to happen. If you want to soothe that worry, rather than attributing to the seller all sorts of evil motives, try the following:
Are you prone to stress? If this is driving your fears of a bad outcome, and what I think most would perceive as a tendency to imagine the worst and to open a dispute too quickly, is buying online safe for you? Wouldnโt you prefer to try out instruments in a music shop showroom?
In most cases, I would want to hear and feel an instrument before buying.

Paper, if the seller has to pay for the return, then they pay for insurance.
They'd be stupid not to.

I think the seller, the music shop, is doing all the right things here for you. They are contacting the supplier, they are arranging a courier.
You say you have packed it up in sturdy packaging that it came in and it is in original condition.
I have no idea who the couriers are but since it is Payton's usual courier service (I assume) they are probably used to transporting musical instruments. Think about it. If an item was small enough to fit in a car or the boot etc, most people would take it home with them. Couriers are for bigger items so I have no doubt these couriers are used to handling harps and pianos and those sorts of things.
I would say your chances of a full refund are excellent, they are not going to lie about the condition of the harp when it arrives back to them. Extremely unlikely. If they did, you could protest and ask for evidence. This store has had thousands of sales on ebay and from memory they had a 100% feedback rating? I forget exact details but I'm pretty sure they are reputable although I understand you are stressed about it and will be till you get the refund.
Just a note: You are not entitled to compensation. You are entitled to a full refund and you are entitled to return the item free of cost to yourself, but that is it. I have bought from another online sales site where I had to return an item to a designated depot (which happened to be a shop in a neighbouring suburb). I was sent a postage label so there was no cost involved to send it back but that car trip was on my own dime. If you return an item to eg K mart, no one compensates you for travel expenses or anything else either. Don't even broach the topic, you'll just confuse the issue.
