When selling I have ALWAYS given feedback when the customer pays for the item. The quicker they pay the better the feedback. AS IT SHOULD BE.

When buying how ever I have found a lot of sellers do not leave feedback until you leave them feedback. Is this GOOD practice? I don't think so, in fact it causes me to give poorer feedback than I may have originally as I class this activity as bad customer relations in the 'seller's communication' area. As a rule I start asking why I had not received any feedback after four to five days, then if I do not receive a reasonable answer and immeadiate feedback the seller loses points. As a majority of postal times from sellers average at least 7 days I usually wait that long before "reducing" the stars on communication. Then every four days they lose another.
Today I contacted a seller asking "why?" on an item 320731808127 purchased on the 9th of May and received this reply:
"Dear robert_053,
Hi
thank you for your information.
our system work that when customer leave me positive feedback.
the system leave him positive also.
please leave me first.
miranda"
to which I have replied:
Hello Miranda,
That is very rude.
I order and pay for items straight away and so I expect positive feedback STRAIGHT AWAY!
What YOU are doing is extorting good feedback from customers so they will get good feedback too.
IF you had checked my members profile page you would have discovered that this is a particular "HATE" of mine.
It also causes those sellers who do it to LOSE 'points' when it comes to me making my assessment.
To me that is a "failure for proper seller's communication"

NOTICE TO SELLERS!When I purchase your product and Pay immediately, I EXPECT feedback immediately!! Should you delay feedback, until I receive the item and give YOU feedback, you WILL receive LESS STARS in communication the longer you delay!

Do YOU think I am right in doing this?

Just seeing if sellers check or care.
Why is it that sellers have such a problem leaving feedback. If a seller does a good job to me this means marking the item sent box, sending within a couple days of me posting. Replies to my messages if I am picking up. If the item is as described, and packed well then I try hard to get that message across in my feedback. I would think my doing that takes more time than a seller who could just have a copy paste reply of fast payment, thankyou or whatever

I don't think very many do actually have a problem with leaving feedback, I think most sellers - if they have any problem at all - it's with the small percentage of buyers that demand it or dictate when, how and/or if it should be left, and they have a problem with that simply because it's the seller's choice, not the buyer's. Just like it's my choice to wrap my clothing in tissue paper. I don't have to, the clothes would arrive just fine without it and be just as wearable, but the buyers wouldn't get that little thrill of unwrapping it...or something. 😛

On a lighter note, this reminds me of a funny story,
Elderly friend loved doing her ebay, she and hubby had a tiff, he telling her she is hard to get along with, unreasonable, etc etc, she calmly responded with "I don`t care what you say, your opinion doesn`t concern me, I have over 300 people who disagree with you, just go check my feedback" 😄 She actually told me when she was having a down day, she would read her FB others had left for her and it made her feel better.
Personally I don`t know what the fuss is all about, green dots should not rule your world. If I am to be rated at all I prefer it be by the items I sell, my customer service, and my delightful personality B-)

digital ghost can u please tell me how buyers demand or dictate u leave feedback. I know we whinge on here about it but that doesn't count as sellers whinge on here about buyers.
Do they contact the sellers and demand it. Maybe as I don't do things I hear some buyers do I am just not understanding where u guys are coming from.;)

Feedback taps into the gamer/rank hunter mentality for some people. The stars change colour, that gives the impression there's something to achieve simply by amassing high amounts of feedback, if but on a barely acknowledged level (I can assure you there are walls around Australia that do have eBay FB certificates on them......)
When I hit 1000, what achievement will be unlocked? 😮

I love my feedback as a buyer and a seller - It validates all I know about myself, I am fantastic, speedy payer, efficient, pleasant buyer, the best greatest ever seller, beautiful wrapper, great communicator ...practically perfect in every way. 😛
Love it :^O

I actually leave feedback as soon as I post, but it is generic and the same for everybody. Natural, considering the transaction is nowhere near finished when I leave it.
If, however, I had a buyer telling me about how/when to leave feedback before that point, there is a very good chance they would not get feedback. Given 30% of them don't consider it courteous to leave feedback for me, I think I am reasonable.
Even if I've only sold 3 things. 😉

Stick around long enough and you'll see enough threads from different buyers that complain sellers don't leave them feedback unless they leave it first - that is an attempt to dictate to sellers when feedback "should" be left, and that sellers "should" leave it first.
And yes, buyers do contact sellers and request they leave feedback, some quite rudely.
In extreme cases, buyers will leave the seller a negative if they don't get feedback first. Sadly, I've seen more than a couple of instances of that kind of behaviour in my time on eBay. 😞
