Sellers using my email address to send me spam emails without my consent

Ok, so I purchased from an ebay seller. Transaction went through as per normal, then a week later I start getting spam emails from that very seller!  I did NOT sign up to receive their emails!!!  Why is it that sellers think that it's ok to use my private email information to add me to their mailout without my consent?????  I messaged the seller, said to take me off their mailout, only for them to reply they don't have me on their mailout!  Yeah right!  So I sent them a snapshot of their lastest mailout!  This isnt' a once off thing, it's happening more and more and it's getting more than annoying!!!!!!!!

That's not a really smart response about the issue. No one is asking to be subscribed to a seller you had business at. They now know your email address and if for some reason their database is leaked, guess what? your email is leaked too. With so much internet scams and fraud there is in 2025 companies such as Ebay should be way more cautious on who they should allow to see their  customer's email and who shouldn't.

And of course, you could say don't purchase on eBay and issue resolved and yes it's definitely the best course of action but is that good for eBay? probably not. And that's why eBay should be the ones responsible and hear customer complaints if they want to avoid their business be affected too.

Did it actually take you 6 years to come up with that?

First... don't bump threads from the archives. Once a mod sees it, they'll close it - so it's pretty pointless

Second... eBay sellers do not have a database containing buyer's email addresses. Perhaps you should read up on a few eBay policies before forming an incorrect opinion
