Selllers not sending items

I have just had 4 claims paid for Chinese sellers not sending items and a 5th claim in progress for the same reason.

I can't be the only buyer being scammed by these sellers, the question I have to ask what is eBay doing to stamp this out?

That "newbie" has been on eBay longer than you, and given they've just had four claims paid out in their favour, seem to be having no trouble finding avenues to explore.

The topic has nothing to do with leaving feedback.

Newbie joined up one year before I did in 2012 which was 18 years ago. But newbie is newbie to the forum with only 2 posts. My response was mainly  & also to the informative post by shoppingbag*. Just expanding on that with the link as well.

Perhaps in the interests of being informative you could have pointed out that the vast majority of responders were against your proposal of lifting the feedback period from 60 days to 90 days.

Oh looky, someone has brought up the GSP in another thread.............lucky you, now you can enlighten them to the horrors of it.

"Vast majority"? Are you referring to the usual suspects that don't like people talking about the negative side of GSP or adressing bad experiences with sellers who do things like say .... "Oh this item can't be supplied because it's broken" when an auction closes as a low bid? Some others who were against the idea of restoring the FB time to the original 3 months were sensible and came from an honest opinion.

Anuyway as we know Padi, the time it takes some items to arrive can potentially exceed the time alotted to leave feedback. Now Shoppingbag made an interestingf post and that may have a bearing on whether the OP makes another claim on not. At the least it brings to attention what's going on with the delays and what's behind them.

No need for me to jump on that GSP thread padi, others have given their thoughts.

I'll point out once again that feedback is not the ultimate goal of an eBay purchase and is entirely voluntary.

I'll point out once again that extending the feedback window to allow those whose purchases have been delayed multiple months due to COVID delays is only going to result in a huge increase in negative feedback ratings for sellers who've done absolutely nothing wrong other than to sell to an ill-informed, unreasonable buyer, of which there is an abunbant supply.

Negative FB is going to be an issue whether 2 or 3 months. Some panic buyers will actually hold off on giving FB if they know they have an extra month to do it. Some people give negatives because they don't want seller to get away with (in their mind) ripping them off. That's happened in the past.

With stuff taking more than twice the normal time, it stands to reason that restoring the FB time to 3 months is a workablle idea.

Some people now are worried that a seller hasn't sent the item even though the seller has told them otherwise. This title of the thread also relates to the FB issue.

If a buyer is panicking after two months, an extra one isn't going to reduce their irrationality.

If a buyer is vindictive enough to give negatives so a seller "doesn't get away with it", they're also vindictive enough to leave a negative for shipping delays outside the control of the seller.

The title (nor subject) of this topic has nothing to do with FB.

Your arguments all lack merit.

An extra month may indeed be just what the doctor ordered. An example would be, they'll see they have an extra  6 weeks after already having waited 6 weeks and having an idea that Corona virus is throwing things out of whack, they'd be prepared to wait a bit longer. They'd be more likely to believe the seller rather than cooking up in their mind that the seller is pulling their leg. If it takes longer than 8 weeks, they'll have a month left to wait for the item. This works well for sellers.

I've worked in sales before in different roles. I know how people are with expectations.

Can't do too much about a vindictive buyer but having that extra month can be a safety margin and while the potentially vindictive buyer is still waiting, taking into account the current world status, they'll more than likely hold off on the "NUKE THE SELLLER" button if they know they have more time to wait. And in the more time to wait (the extra month), the awaited parcel will more than likely arrive.

You'll note that the content of the OP's post is about being scammed by Chinese sellers. As you're probably aware, I have passed my 6th week in waiting for my parcel from the US. My P.O. lady tells me that this is normal now and some folks have been waiting for up to 3 months. It will be longer from China possibly.

With regard to the content of the OP's post, that can, will be and is an issue that relates to delays with other buyers.

Now looking at the below comments that have been made by the following eBay members,

@cezm wrote:

A others have said shipping is delayed due to the virus

You have not been scammed - you got your money back.

Hopefully you will repay the sellers once/if your items arrive

 and

@shoppingbag* wrote:

How do you know they have not sent the items? I had items arrive from China and then held in Sydney for almost 3 months before being sent on to me.  Have you not heard about the postal delays due to Coronavirus?

You can see bty reading cezm's and shoppingbag*'s posts that delays are a feature and with some people the assumption will be that the seller has done a swifty on them or is incompetent and sent it to the wrong address. I'm not saying that this is the case with the OP, but the scenario exists. So what I have posted goes in line with what the thread is about.

It's incorrect to say that there is no merit in what I say.

Hello, everyone. It's very important to keep your discussion relevant to the topic. If you have something else to talk about, please start a new thread. Remember irrelevant posts might be removed. Thanks.

Re: Selllers not sending items

Repeating the same arguments over and over doesn't make them any more convincing, or relevant.

Neither the OP nor any other members you're quoting mentioned anything about feedback in here, so why you keep bringing it up is a mystery.

Given the vacuum of support, and directive from a moderator, it might be time to give it a rest, 'eh?

Just in the interests of being an utterly persnickety stickler for numerical precision... 4channel, you posted ❝Newbie joined up one year before I did in 2012 which was 18 years ago.❞ Of course that doesn't compute; either 2012 should be 2002, or 18 years ago should be 8 years ago.

As you joined in 2002, and the OP joined in 2001, the correct equation here is:

   2020 -18 = 2002

rather than

   2020 - 8 = 2012
