Hello,
I have been thinking of buying a drone but am worried about it arriving and being damaged in some way, has anyone ever shipped a product that is like 2-3 kg back to the seller (china for example), is the shipping cost expensive and not worth the hassle?
Thank you.

Something to consider, if you live near me and you send one into my yard, I WILL knock it out of the sky. I don't care what you paid for it, I will smash it. I have already smashed 3. I will smash more and there is nothing people like you can do about it. I'm not the only one who does this. Be prepared for your money to be smashed into a thousand pieces. That gave me the best laugh of the day.
Where do you live, Tippy? (What state?)
I've never seen a drone going overhead around my way. or not that i know of. certainly haven't had any land in my yard. And you've had 3!!
But I'm hearing you. If i did notice one overhead it would annoy me. I'm finding google earth intrusive enough. When people overseas can ask you about the stuff in your garden (which has happened to me), you can say goodbye to privacy. All i can say is thank god google maps isn't in real time or I'd be hesitant to go outside.
Granny-what the others say about a warranty is true. You can buy from China for maybe half price but get no enforceable warranty or you can look out for one in the shops here. Have you tried catch of the day? They're Australian, online & sometimes have drones but not all the time. Stuff comes & goes on there. But it always arrives quickly once you order.
PS How do you knock them out of the sky tippy? Just in case I need the info anytime, what with school hols & Xmas coming up.

Tippy is in counrty NSW springy.
I agree with her though....if I found a drone spying on me I would do my level best to get rid of it.

Thanks, I would rather get one from a store but they only have limited drones and can be quite expensive compared to something similar on here or Amazon. But I will probably just do what you said and pay more for one in a store for that piece of mind. What is a good Aus store that has a decent selection?
as with most things, you only get what you pay for. Buy cheap sh!t from China and you will almost certainly be disappointed.
As for good stores to buy a drone, I have no idea as I have not ever researched them. See if Choice magazine has tested any drones. If you are not a Choice subscriber you can usually find them in public libraries.
It really is a case of buyers needing to do their own research and buy within their means.
Iโm with tippy regarding drones entering โmy airspaceโ. I live in a semi-rural area on an acre, with all my neighbours being on an acre, so there is plenty of room for my neighbours to fly their drones on their own plot (if they have a drone). Come over my boundary without permission/authority and my tennis racket and bucket of balls would get a good workout.
Just for fun:

edit: seems tippy is not alone in her attitude to drones entering her airspace! In the time it took me to type my post and find some YouTube clips several members have posted in support of her view. Iโm sure there will be more.

Tippy I do actually believe there is a provision under law covering interference with a drone etc. and if someone complained you could be in trouble. It's not only kids and voyeurs who use them you know. Where I used to live they were used by farms to check dams etc and councils now use them to inspect for unauthorised pools or animals in yards.
I'm thinking that maybe the law hasn't caught up with technology, because there are issues of privacy that need to be sorted out.
We're hearing all sorts of reports about Aust post perhaps using drones etc
Last i heard, if you were a plane or a helicopter, your driver had to get a licence to fly you, had to have a flight plan and had to report in & be tracked so collisions could be avoided. Similar with cars. Drivers have to have a licence and there are road rules to follow.
I can see the possibility of drones killing people on the ground if there are mid air collisions, falling parcels etc
But the issue of privacy is a huge one. If police want to search your home they have to get a warrant. If council wishes to send drones over your property, they should also notify you.

hereโs something from CASA

Interesting for those of us that live within 5.5km of an airport (a no drone zone at any time).
