Good morning all 🙂
Well thankfully our selling on eBay has been and continues to go well since we returned, but I’m not having much luck as a buyer. Just a few weeks ago it was trouble with a Chinese seller, but please, don’t tell me not to buy off Chinese unless you know the full story as I posted here as a warning to others. Before that, it was a couple of absolutely almost business and eBay illiterate (so embarrassing) Aussie sellers. Now it’s a German seller....
I bought a quality item from what what I thought was a quality seller. It was DOA, but we did what we could without interfering with it, to get it to work. No luck, so sent a very nice and polite message to the seller, initially asking if there was any tricks to it we weren’t aware of. I won’t go right into it, but from the get go I got the run around, big time. This culminated yesterday (thetevwas prior corro back and forth - all exculpatory on their part) in me asking for a pre-paid satchel so I could return the item for a refund - refused point blank. First I was told to check the internet for trouble shooting, which I already had anyway. Still remaining calm and polite I advised them again of the situation. I was told to package the item (at my cost) together with a letter of explanation, the original invoice (yadda yadda) and send it to the manufacturer for repair. The address of the manufacturer? Oh simple, I was told I could look that up on the internet.
No wonder some buyers have lost faith here and I’ve been so patient and kind, because I’m dealing with a fellow seller. Fool me!
So my eBay friends, before I do too much I’ve once again popped in here for your very welcome advice. Oh, and the seller is ignoring me now.
thanks,
Melina.

Melina, if you need any help communicating with the seller in German, just let me know.
Link to returning items: https://verkaeuferportal.ebay.de/ruecknahmen-bei-ebay
(Summed up - if there's a problem with the item, seller pays the return postage.)
Because it's an "article not as described" case (Rückgabeanfrage: Artikel nicht wie beschrieben), your seller should work with you on this. Ignoring you or demanding that you pay for return shipping and return to manufacturer, etc., etc., is just not on.
Refer your seller to this page: https://verkaeuferportal.ebay.de/rueckgabeanfrage-artikel-nicht-wie-beschrieben

Thank you Countess, very, very much.
Finally, I’m learning something. I was on the right track, but as you know I’ve learnt the hard way to ask advice first. And, as always it’s unselfishly forthcoming.
Feeling much better. The way forward is now clear.
thank you, once again. You’re a diamond 🙂

PS...@ Countess
Perfect, punctuation, spelling and grammar in English. A whole world better than the two Aussie sellers I needed to communicate with.
but thanks for your kind offer.

Melina you cannot ask for a prepaid satchel for return postage from an overseas seller. It is an Australia Post service and cannot be accessed from overseas. No wonder the seller refused to co-operate.
In this case you should open a dispute for Not As Described and let ebay get your money back.
Or do a paypal dispute if that is how you paid....German sellers are not compelled to have paypal. If you do go the paypal route make sure you opt into the free return postage before opening the dispute.

An update for you all ....
I received a refund for this purchase today 🙂
eBay acted very promptly, courteously and appropriately in my book and it’s appreciated.
Thats score 1 for the goodies. Nil for the baddies. Yay!!
Thanks everyone for your time, kind help and guidance. That too was appreciated - much appreciated. My humble thanks.
Melina.
