So I bought and paid for an item and at random I received not one but 4 in a row random unsolicited messages containing accusations of being a scammer, being told that they’ve checked and my PO Box number (which I’ve had for 6 years) is fake, which they’ve supposedly confirmed with Australia post, followed by threats to have the parcel recalled and returned to the seller and that I’ve been reported to the police for being a scammer, you’ll get what you deserve, arrested when you pick up, that sort of thing. Has also said that I’ve claimed the money back and trying to scam the item.
I know it’s a bunch of BS but still not nice to receive.
I’m guessing that as the seller has only joined in May this year, looks to have sold only 2 items one of which was to me and only has 4 feedback for purchases, they might be under a withhold of funds from eBay. Is this still a thing for new sellers?
Can I and should I report the conversations to eBay at all? And how do you even consider feedback for a seller who does that?

The seller seems to be as delightful as a prostate exam, and as unhinged as a shutter ripped from its window by a maddened gorilla.
Yes, new sellers will have funds held. For someone who’s only recently joined eBay and hasn’t sold enough to meet eBay’s requirements to get off the “new” list (just as is the case with even longtime eBayers who are only occasional sellers or who suddenly start selling more expensive items), your seller won’t have their funds disbursed immediately.
If they’ve mistaken eBay’s risk mitigation measures as a perfectly genuine buyer being a scammer, they clearly don’t know how eBay works.
Are they even signed up to Managed Payments?
You could report them, but I suppose it may be worth considering giving them a bit of a break by calmly replying with a link to the Registering as a seller help page (https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/getting-paid/registering-seller?id=4792) and the Payments on hold help page (https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=481...), specifically quoting ❝New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer❞.

I cannot unsee this - and can only imagine the first. 😃

That spiel in the message was so over the top I wondered for a moment if it was a spam message itself.
Arrested on pick up indeed!🤣
The seller is obviously having some nervous jitters but to me, they have gone a little too far.
I would do as countess suggested and send the link but I am not as kindly as countess, I would add that as a fast paying and genuine customer, I did not appreciate the barrage of abuse at all & it would be better if they read up on selling procedures before they listed items.
I am puzzled a bit as if they have sold a few things in the past few months, they should already know about the hold on funds. Maybe it was the post office box number that gave them the vapours.
As far as feedback goes, too early to tell. See what the reaction is.
If, even after a (reasonably polite but stern) reply from you, they message you back in an abusive way that shows they have not looked at the link, then yes, I would give at least a factual neutral.

I think my item was the first they sold. Then a second one 2 days later. Maybe once they see the funds held in the other they’ll better understand. I don’t take the threats seriously but there’s at least 7 messages that were sent one after the other.
still not sure how he thinks his post office would confirm there’s no box matching mine.

Sounds like the delightful troll that posted dozens of feral comments on here over two usernames
Wonder if they have a third?
Certainly a very 'special' little person
Countess, Love it
And I think the gorilla was maddened because he was the one having the prostrate exam

Unlike the others, dont converse any further with them, and report to Ebay. Why would you continue with someone like that

They can and will confirm box numbers. But I suspect this was just a story to help their unhinged email.

LOL - I now have visuals of two police persons checking out the kids toy section of the PO waiting for you to collect.
