Too good to be true

After much searching for the best buy I found and won this item. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161073965626?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

The seller had similar items that sold for more and into the hundreds. Left a message for tracked post, waiting a response.

Wonder how the other buyers are going with their purchase.

Just remeber to not let the 45 days pass to open a dispute if it does not arrive or is not as described.

As long as you are aware it sounds to good to be true then at least you are aware of a potential problem.

As said keep an eye on the time factor to open a dispute if need be assuming you have paid with paypal.

Re: Too good to be true

Outback aussie's advice sounds exactly right to me.

I had a look at the completed listings and prices were all over the place, but what would worry me is the seller is a zero rating.

Keep watching that, as sooner or later the feedback will start to come in.

I guess every seller has to start somewhere, it may all work out well for you, but if the seller tries to delay you too long, go right into a dispute, don't mess around.

Re: Too good to be true

Thanks for the input, I sort of expect it to go to a claim as the item retails for around AU$900 and I just thought I was lucky that no one else bid. The zero rating however was a red flag for me. I have paid via paypal.

That  being said, if it is bogus, someone opens an ebay account, fails to deliver and runs with the cash, paypal refund me and ebay scrubs his/her account. Still a win for the scammer. Or is there more to it?

Re: Too good to be true

You revceive nothing, you open a dispute, you get your money back, Paypal get the money back from the seller. As soon as you open a dispute the funds are frozen in the seller's account. You will be a lot unhappier if you do receive something and it turns out to be not as described as you will have to return it by fully trackable post with proof of delivery as it will be ebay buyer protection, not Paypal's which only requires proof of posting. This will probably cost more than you will get back!
