I had an item from the US that was sent by USPS First Class International but NOT with e-delcon so did not have proper tracking. It eventually turned up WEEKS later (seller/Post Office had forgotten to put an airmal sticker on it). I feel much more comfortable when sellers process their items online and take advantage of the free e-delcon (tracking/delivery confirmation)

What site did you use to see the tracking?
And please don't say 'Australia Post' if you want to retain any credibility.

Michelle, if it was sent as part of the GSP, then on another thread it has been posted that there is some issue with tracking right now.
for items with "multiple carriers". That is, the GSP.
you should have an initial tracking number, with multiple carriers, then when it reaches the Kentucky Fedex centre, you will get a tracking number you can use on the Fedex site.

Why is it ridiculous? It would not be the first time that lost parcels have been found because the Customs number is known. They used to be acceptable proof of posting for a paypal claim but I am not sure if that is still the case.
