After nearly a month and no goods I opened a not received dispute. The seller was extremely helpful and insisted that it had been posted on time. Today it arrived from Hong Kong and stamped on the front were the words, Missent to Canada Post Toronto Exchange.
I learnt from this that no matter how careful a seller is in addressing a parcel it can still go astray. It made me wonder how many sellers have lost points because of something they couldn't control. I have closed the dispute and left positive feedback.

I had one this week - local delivery from about 4 suburbs, sent by Trackable Postage.
2 weeks pass, and seller sent me a replacement at no charge.
Couple of days later, I got TWO on the same day (the original and the replacement).
I go back and process a gift payment to seller for the spare item (not worth sending back, as it would cost me 1/2 the item value in postage charges)

Yes, I wonder how this happens, it's like the postie waited until they had more than parcel to deliver, to bother stopping to leave them.

it is easy for small parcel to get stuck to something else that is going to totally different destination, and once it is sent accidentally to different country it then has to come back again, and obviously that will add some time to the delivery time. I always allow for such mistakes before taking any action.

the vagaries of post are very strange, I've had over the years, a parcel from US in 3 days, a parcel from US in 3 months and the worst a parcel from US in 7 months, fortunately excluding these oddities the average time from US is 10days. Then there has been one that was originally sent to NZ? and found it's way here eventually and a few no shows from China that were resent but the original never appeared.

Yes, mail does go missing but looking at the big picture - I think Aust Post is usually pretty reliable. I've posted out more than 6000 items since I started and from that around 10-12 have gone missing, of that 10-12, half eventually turned up. The rest - well who knows, may have been dishonest buyers, may have been dodgy mail contractors etc, I could have posted to the wrong address and item not returned.
All in all my experience with Aust Post has been pretty positive.

I just got delivered two packages this morning, I only realised that one wasn't addressed to me after I had cut it open... Luckily the guy who it was meant for only lives around the corner for me so I e-mailed him to let him know...
Contractor obviously didn't look at the address
You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means

Bought a large new bbq ( 94kg) which arrived damaged. No communication from seller after I declined a discount to accept damaged goods. Put in a claim through Paypal who found in my favour. I get a full refund if I return the item to the seller at my expense. ACCC under Australian Consumer Law Section 263 says seller is responsible for arranging return of goods if large bulky and heavy. Paypal basically saying not there problem to sort out getting the bbq back but they will offer maximum $50 towards shipping. Cost will be greater than that. It came in too cartons - one 40kg and one 54kg. Regular couriers won't touch it becasue it is too heavy. May have to chase it up through Dept of Fair Trading. Paypal seems to be effective with small items but be careful if you buy something large and / or heavy. You may end up out of pocket.

raycorayco you should have started your own topic, instead of resurrecting this almost year old that has nothing to do with your problem.
As PP is in no position to judge who is right, their policy is that each party pays one way. Good sellers who made a mistake will cover the postage both ways, but it is at their discretion.

super_nova paypal are in a position to know the trading act and other rules of the countries the buyer comes from...they should be held more accountable to these laws
