Warranty - dodgy tactics

Ill try and get this right.

Some sellers are either delaying to get outside 45 days. Or after 45 days are simply refusing to honour their warranty.

This is apparently not a violation of ebays rules. So as a buyer you can't do anything. You have no recourse.

Most sellers are fine. I buy a fair bit of stuff from china and have only one issue.

Re: Warranty - dodgy tactics

Seriously that post was just ridiculous.

yes we understand how the system works.

Are you seriously saying it can't be better?

Ebay supposedly has a suggestion box or something. No point in continuing to complain here as ebay don't read the boards.

I'm NOT saying that to be nasty & if you want to keep posting, its up to you BUT as I said previously, you are flogging a dead horse re THIS item & THIS seller.

Re: Warranty - dodgy tactics

Once again comparing eBay to a newspaper is also ridiculous.

for starters if the item was sold in country then other regulatory protection systems are involved.

Ebay advertises itself as safer because of its feedback system.  The feedback system has serious flaws that are being exploited by unscrupulous sellers.

so you are saying the system cannot be made better. You are happy for fraudulent transactions to proceed?

Because most reasonable people prefer things to get better if they can.

Then to top off that post you ask why complain here?  Well because this is a forum for these discussions.  That is why these forums exist.  Sheesh, seriously some people need to learn some critical thinking around here.

Well no foxette,

a very few forum members seem to act mainly in the interest of eBay itself without considering the wider picture.

Discussing the wider picture is what this forum is for.

Finally why are you defending a lsub optimal system?

why are you defending it with what are clearly illogical, irrational and often factually incorrect arguments?

Mr hawk,

yes there are risks. Nobody has denied that.

What is wrong with trying to make the risks smaller?  Why do you NOT want dodgy sellers made more accountable?

Mr Hawk also seems to confuse advertising with a buying and selling system.  Which is deliciously ironic considering he starts with complaining about how I don't understand the system.  The problem is I do and it seems he doesn't.  I suggested the system could be better.

If you bought an item at an auction house, then yes the auction house has certain legal responsibilities.  An auction house is a far better analogy to eBay.

Mr Hawk you do not buy a car from an ad.  You buy a car from a car dealer.  Ad is short for advertisement.  it is different to the process whereby the transaction actually takes place.

Unfortunately it was others who started the silly condescension and hostility.  Telling people that "don't understand the system" is both wrong and not helpful.

I also didn't say anything hostile to you foxette, but then some here also interpret disagreement with hostility.

What is interesting is these discussions are taking place on other more technical styled forums. The systemic errors of the feedback system are well documented and known.  Funny that on the Ebay forum the people who use it most don't seem to want it made better.

I try to take my own actions to avoid this .We can all do it.

There are certain things I won't buy online especially not from OS.. .as even if and where the warranty is honored it is going to cost me more and be complicated to send it back.

I don't expect or assume that a manufacturer's warranty will be honored in all cases where things are bought here....in fact I expect that not to be the case.If I took a gamble to save money in the short term and lost out I would live with it if I had no further recourse and be more aware in the future.

If it was the correct sellers who's fb I just looked at ...it should do it's job.If people take the time to look and really listen to what those words in the read and grey dotted area are saying.I hope that that is of some comfort to you .
