Was I too harsh?

So I won an auction today for a new PC for probably about 60% of RRP (approx $650). I paid, then noticed a message from the seller. They stated they couldn't sell it that cheap but would I pay $1199 instead and they'd give free postage ($45). I said no and they offered 3 years warranty. I said out of my budget so they offered me $1100 instead. I pointed out they were breaching ebay policies and I couldn't pay more. They cancelled the sale. I reported them to ebay and left negative feedback, starting with don't buy from this seller. The thing is, it was their first sold item ever. They questioned why I left them negative feedback (which was kind of obvious). Should I have just explained what they did wrong and how to fix it (I did say in the feedback that they shouldn't start bidding at a price they are unwilling to sell at)? So now I'm second guessing my feedback.

I am aware of this - but - I took the time to literally type in their title - it came up as screen shot.

And under the completed listings was a lot of other carp earlier on too, and 7 computers not 5

This is what I got when I 'look at their listings', just before midday today and when clicked on, it says they ended it yesterday

I wonder if he's accepting lower offers on Marketplace .

His gaming table is listed as used - like new there, although apparently he can build them  for an extra $10.

His PC is listed as new there though.

I was hoping to see a picture of the back of a truck, the one it may have fallen off !

Re: Was I too harsh?

Unbelievable !!!

The last lot of listings , except for one, have been removed by eBay and now they've allowed another  lot to be listed.

I was under the impression that if eBay removed the listings they didn't show up in "completed listings". Although not all of the completed listings for the computers are showing now.

Maybe I'm wrong..............

Yes, that's right.

I only looked at the seller's completed listings which only showed one,  so there may still be a few floating around then.

Reminds me of 'Ricky', who was selling empty boxes and came here to these boards seeking help to ensure they wouldn't have to refund buyers.

for anybody who was wondering about Ricky, here are links to two threads by him (they are old, do not post on them).
