I would like to know what the justification is for the Global Shipping Program (hereafter called the GSP) Afler examinig the GSP it smells like a scam or at least a money grab.
I would like to know whyebay is shooting itself in the foot, both feet in fact.
I tried to purchase several items from a U.S. seller and asked about combined postage. I was told the the GSP does not allow combined shipping
Even on singhe items there is a huge difference in the so calles import charges which should equql the Goods and Services Tax but im all cxases instead of being 10% it is somewhere between 14% to 22%
all the buyers i have talked to say as soon as they see the GSP logo they head for the hills. T seller oblivious to how the GSP works is left wondering why their international sales have plumetted. If the seller does not make a sale he misses out, so does the buyer and so does eBay.
Alow me to demonstrait graphically.

There are many, many, many threads about the GSP. There is even one that explains how it works.
It might not still be on the first page, but it's not too far down the list.
You will however get at least one sympathetic post, probably referring to incidents many years ago.
Edit: UPS is not the GSP, so there is somebody who charges even more.

Your last example of UPS is not the GSP......it is a privately owned international courier service that is probably the most expnsive service known to man.
If you must complain about the GSP (and most of us do) then at least know who provides the service and exactly what the service entails.
I suggest you read the many threads on the boards about it before starting another one that is less than factual.

It has pretty much all been said
Must be a hundred posts which give accurate information
Very easy to avoid....as with every listing of every item from ever seller in every country
If someone does not like the price of any part of the purchase, there do not have to buy

Sorry, but to put it politely, your post demonstrates a lack of understanding of, the GSP, GST and additional import charges.
Overseas sellers, largely, love the GSP, for the seller protections and service it provides.

Hi miyi-94 , I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. There's a lot of value here in what you have posted as it servces as a continual warning about this horrid shipping (as it's continyally referred to) scam. Yes, on larger items there may be some benefit usuing it. But then one can be cast into a whole new arena of problems!
The below post by marnotom! gives a good account of what it is in reality.
Re: How can I opt out of Global Shipping Program?Re: How can I opt out of Global Shipping Program?in reply to wlfherbs Apr 15, 2013 10:26:01 AMmarnotom!GuideApr 15, 2013 10:26:01 AMThe Global Shipping Program is like herpes. You can't eliminate it once you've got it. All you can do is manage it, which in this case means unchecking it as an option when setting up your listings or in your site preferences.
Yes, marnotom! summed it up. Other following posts in the thread incl one by john-c-holmes confirm this.

Seller's loss and that's very sad!
