What is happening with feedback?

have about 10 purchases from big sellers who I naively left feedback but recieved zip.

No one bothers leving feedback anymore? Should I start doing the same?

Sorry OP, as you see we get a little bored at times.

Generally I think you have a point. As some sellers have now been on eBay for a long time, they probably don't see much of an importance in feedback as much as earlier days.

Re: What is happening with feedback?

And has been mentioned on the odd occasion, feedback for buyers is essentially meaningless as it can only be positive.

OP has enough to avoid any restrictions, so it is hardly an issue.

Re: What is happening with feedback?

Thank you for all the answers, yes, I understand that it is a formality but good feedback is good for business and a buyer can aslo be a seller.

Just saying, came across some rude characters with tens of thousands of points who can't be bothered answering nor leaving some feedback even after recieving .

Oh well, may be a sign of the times. May be i should not leave anything unless I recieve first.

Re: What is happening with feedback?

I generally leave it once a month, on the last Sunday of the month. I always check what stars the buyer has left first and if they leave anything less than 4 they don't get feedback left for them. To me, anything less than 4 means something was wrong and if they can't send a message saying they weren't happy, then they miss out. I get particularly miffed when someone decides to leave one star for postage time when I post within an hour of payment.

and here lies the feedback conundrum!

With tens of thousands of feedback received, they would spend quite a bit of time leaving feedback for buyers . . . . . maybe even have to employ someone just to do feedbacks for buyers . . . . . leading to increased costs of doing business . . . . . which need to be recovered from . . . . . . buyers, through higher item prices . . . . . . OR . . . . . they set up automatic (read generic "best buyer ever, deserves a 24ct gold medal just for paying") type feedback that gets left once the buyer leaves feedback.

IN WHICH CASE . . . . one must ask . . . . what exactly does that feedback for the buyer really tell anyone?????  It tells others that the buyer has bought something.  Gold medal stuff!!!!!!

Re: What is happening with feedback?

I leave more feedback than I receive, but there are times when I buy from a few sellers knowing very well they are not going to leave feedback and I think to myself why should I bother leaving feedback for you.

But when I have received the item I leave feedback for the non leavers too.

I do that for a reason. I always leave feedback as soon as I open the item then when I look back on my purchases I can tell straight away what has arrived and what hasn't arrived.

If I see I have left feedback I know I have received the item if I see no feedback left for the seller I know it hasn't arrived yet.

it is just my way of keeping track of my purchases.
