I a so tired of buying from ebay, and getting shoddy goods. The Vacuum cleaner, that blew up in my face. The smart watch that certainly is not smart. I now try to avoid buying from ebay. Please tell me where my product comes from. I am tired of Chinese rubbish, and tired of being askec to send a video of my product not working. How on earth can I send a video, of the vacuum that blew up on plugging in? Incidentally, when I took it to an electrical shop, I was told it was dangerous!!! The smart watch, that loses the information. Ebay, you are killi g your company with this rubbish.

Not all of the Chinese products are **bleep** and not all the Chinese businesses mascarading on E Bay are dishonest, but I for one have had enough of the way many of them do business. Sooner or later we will all catch on to their trickery and I hope it is sooner than later, because they are slowly taking over our business on line. What many people need to know is that many Chinese businesses are sending stock to Australian depot here and then advertising that it is Australian stock giving the impression that they are Australian businesses, and they are not. They are operating out of China and if you are unfortunate to have to return it to them under warranty they won't give you and address here in Australia to send it to. They suggest to have to send it to China for warranty. Then try and get that address out of them. Be warned as some of these companies are the new terrorist of online business. Just wait until you come across one and you will know all about it and Ebay won't be much help either.

Yes well I for one am totally sick of it.
Marking items as posted when they are not. Items not being posted for weeks after they are payed for. Multiple sellers working from the same location or warehouse or the same seller under multiple names. The same stupid reply's to every Neg feedback they get. Trying to "bargain" a refund instead of giving a full refund.
Ebay knows all about this, but it's all about profits and getting a slice of the action.
Ebay loves the Chinese sellers because they are bulk sellers and that's what drives their business model.
You want to deal with this? then it's a trip to the ACCC to bring Ebay kicking and screaming to the table where they can receive a long overdue reaming.
The best way to avoid these sellers is to check the Neg feedback (most are below 99%) and also their postage times. If the postage time is more than a week or so, then you can be pretty sure that they are poor sellers looking to try and drop ship from China..

I'm dealing with one of those now, with one of my latest buys, wants me to send it back to China for refund but it costs more to send back and he knows it, plus he wanted me to send it to another address, not the one Ebay gave me to send to plus he wanted me to lie on the custom form, but I told him no. So I might just cut my loss on this and not buy from Chinese sellers again

Most of these Chinese sellers lie about the fact the the items are local, when infract they are in mainland china. Most of the items listed are utter junk or knock offs. These scamming sellers are like rats they spread and open and close under new names all the time.

Don't buy the stuff then. No one is forcing you. My Chinese sellers are awesome. They all have 100% feedback, all VERY high volume sellers (five and six figure feedback scores). They are sending from China and I get exactly what I've bought. One did say once that it was being sent from Sydney. Given that it arrived 2 days later, they were telling the truth.
It's up to you where you choose to buy. If you don't do your homework, then you only have yourself to blame. It's not hard to see where an item is being sent from. As for the junk, if you think you are going to get a $200 item for $2, do you really think you are going to get a genuine item?

I try not to buy from China although I've not had any trouble in the past with the small items I have bought from there. But the sellers honestly listed location.
If I bought something though that said eg location Sydney and then the seller asked me to return it to China, I'd be contacting ebay chat about it and kicking up a fuss. In my opinion, if you buy supposedly from Australia, then you should only be expected to return to an Australian address. I'd be asking ebay to look at messages and to step in.
I think you can have a good experience buying on ebay but it really pays to read the ad carefully and check out where the seller is located etc as well as feedback so you have as much information as possible before you commit to buy. There are a lot of excellent Australian sellers, which is why ebay is one of my regular buy sites.

Why is this thread even here at all???
If you don't want to buy from Chinese sellers, it takes about 2 seconds to display search results for "Australia only"
Wanting eBay to remove foreign sellers because you don't want to see them is a pathetic joke. If you personally opt to include them in your search results, that's entirely your choice.
No amount of whinging in the forums will ever change the return you elicit from a search engine where you personally set the parameters.
I am completely, totally and utterly astonished by the naivete displayed in the OP

Unfortunately that doesn't mean what you think it means, eBay in their "wisdom" will include all sellers that ship to, or claim to have stock in, Australia.
The only reliable check is to look at the seller's feedback and see where they are registered.

Bwahahahahaha... that's complete and utter **bleep**, and you know it.
When one uses the search filter, it obliterates unselected/unwanted results - sorry, but that's a fact. It's what the filter is designed to do, and exactly how it functions.
Selecting Australia only, completely eliminates ALL items from overseas. Honestly, for all the times I've applied the search filter (probably in the thousands now), on not one singke occasion has something appeared in the results from outside my listed parameters.
Based on my own personal experience, anybody who suggests otherwise is taking the mickey, and giving completely false and misleading information.

Sorry…. But padi is correct and you are mistaken.
unfortunately, eBay’s filters are not adapted for the buyer, they are adapted for the sales! (The seller)
Since Covid, I ONLY purchase from Australia, and I ALWAYS select AUSTRALIA ONLY….. but those sneaky Chinese sellers based in China still get through. It’s because on their listing, for item location, they choose AUSTRALIA ….. but click on the seller and you will see they are based in China.
It’s then when you go looking at feedback and by then I’m hitting the back button anyway.
If the item location doesn’t have a named town, chances are extremely high it’s dropped shipped from outside Australia , and it’s usually China.
