I purchased an item and did not use it until after the return time had expired at which time I found the item to be defective. The seller stated that there was a two year warranty but has not provided the warranty servicer. What are my options?

Was this an authorised seller of the brand and registered in Australia ?
If not, there is no warranty
It does not matter what the ad 'said'
That is why things need to be checked on arrival and you could have opened an item not as described dispute
What is the item number?

Thanks for the reply, but I am interested in getting the item repaired if possible, and it does matter.

Then - get it repaired.
What has this to do with your ' options ' - with eBay.??

No, it doesn't
If the seller was not authorised to sell the brand, there is no (and never was a warranty )
The seller saying there is one in the ad does not make it so
It does not exist , except as a word on the screen
That is just simple fact
IF you did buy from an authorised seller , then contact the brand and ask them for advice
