Hey guys,
I am just curious as to why are sellers allowed to mark an item as "sent" with no tracking being updated.
I recently "bought" (because I never got it), a gaming laptop because the price was excellent and the user had over 169 items sold and 100% positive feedback.
So this happened on the 5th and I was expected to get it delivered on the 10th of March 2023 via Express Post and the item had 2 days handling time so at latest should've been shipped by 7th?
So come Friday 10th March the item was marked as sent! But when I went to check tracking there was nothing and since it was a $1700 laptop I messaged the seller to update me with tracking, since they had previously messaged me saying they'd do so once it had been shipped.
Long story short didn't receive tracking, the seller went silent so I talked with eBay chat explained them and opened an INR case, and today I was refunded by the seller, a day before eBay were supposed to step in.
I just don't understand why are sellers allowed to mark item as "Sent" not update tracking and for the seller the only option is to wait days to open an INR case and wait a few more to wait for the verdict and another additional few days to get the money back in the card. And what purpose does it serve the seller? Since high value items funds are held till it's delivered to the buyer so not like they could just withdraw the money as soon as a sale is made?
If you want to have a look at the sellers profile, feel free to visit my profile and check the last feedback I left for them.
Cheers!

Checking the sellers profile now, they have relisted the item again.

Why on earth did you not check seller feedback before you bought. It would be hard to find a lower score JMO

They had 100% until this fiasco, Daydreams.
I'm guessing as they are an infrequent seller, they don't know about verification etc for Managed Payments, and wanted the money before sending.

Also, OP....If the seller was 'in the know' they could have that FB removed.
Never mention opening a case, or getting the refund via ebay in your feedback.
It's grounds for removal, for some reason.

The seller had 100% positive feedback before yours, but only because they had hardly sold anything this year (they only had 1 rating as a seller and 1 as a buyer). You should have looked at all the feedback this person received as a seller, which is not so good.

The seller had an awful lot of negs before that though
Not sending at all/not as described/cancelling etc
Might have waited this time for the last negs to drop off
Certainly a pattern of behaviour in any case

Glad you got your money back, but the bigger thing to take away from all of this is that there are no warranties on Ebay, no matter what a seller says. Warranties can only be given by authorised distributors, not random third party sellers.
When dropping $1700, it would be far more prudent to purchase from an actual Australian store as then you are covered if anything goes wrong.
