Why is it not possible to read the full feedback about a seller, only several words are available to be viewed.

Only one line of text is visible which is roughly 80-90 characters that is the size of first line on this text.. This limit of visiblity makes genuine feed back a waste of time because nobody will be able to read the entire feedback. The end result is one cannot go by the feedback when deciding on a purchase which make ebay purchases problematic. One is better buying from Amazon.
I've been on ebay since about 2000/ 2001 (I started under another account) and in all that time, there has never, ever been 5000 characters available for feedback. It has always been about 80. So you will only ever see one line.
It was different in USA in the early days and they could make longer comments but for us, it has always been short.
I think as K1ooo said, you are getting mixed up between product reviews and feedback.
Re 'problematical'. 80 characters means you can't give long explanations but you can summarise main points and you can determine the *colour* of the dot. That's all most customers need to see.
If a seller has a lot of negatives with recurring problems, that tells you everything you need to know, really.
Amazon is a dud for searches, good luck with that one. It can throw up results that in no way match your search words. I prefer ebay, myself.

It has never, in the history of eBay been 5000 characters for feedback. I do not know who told you such nonsense but maybe since you have never once bothered to leave feedback for anyone, whoever told you was joking/being sarcastic
