I have been an eBay member since 2008 and am both a buyer and a seller. I have found that some sellers wait until the buyer enters feedback so as they can reciprocate. I don't feel that is fair for the buyer since he/she has done the right thing and paid for the purchase but if there is something wrong with the item or with the seller and the problem isn't resolved, the buyer's negative feedback to the seller could revert back. There was an instance with one of my sellers where after I had paid and received the item the seller was still waiting for me to leave feedback. When I left a neutral feedback and given my reason I got an attitude message and most probably a negative feedback.

geez, we've got some beauties round the traps tonight, eh?
I can't decide whether someone stole all the Fruit Cakes from the supermarket and turned them loose, or if there is a very special place that needs way better locks on the doors.
Won't anyone think of the chickens?
They must be exhausted from all that egg laying they've had to do tonight!

Not surprising, I suppose.
Note to OP - don't chuck eggs.

so, is feedback voluntary? Is that what you're all saying? Seriously?
Well, I'll be......
Who woulda thunk?

Unbelievable, hey?
I suppose those that tick boxes without reading what they agree to would invariably be surprised. Or those that don't have even a cursory glance at the SITE MAP.
And expect other members to provide information they could easily find for themselves. Or expect different treatment as a buyer than what they provide as a seller.
Who knows?

If I had a dollar for every feedback that I have received I would have $265 and I would then be rich!

if I had a dollar for every feedback I received I'd have $713.
But if I had a dollar for everything I deserved feedback for, I'd have close to $1,500. And I wouldn't be rich.

So you don't feel rich at all with $713?

Voluntary in the same way as being able to leave the cult camp. You know, that spiel...
"You're free to make your own choice and can decide not to leave feedback anytime *insert array of people who are staring at the person who has decided not to leave feedback, some who look imposing, others who look like you just stole their last $1 so you're all scared and guilty*
"But before you don't leave feedback, which is totally cool, let me tell you about all the benefits of leaving feedback and how it is not only the best thing for you, but the whole community. And just remember, the more feedback you leave, the more feedback you receive, making the whole world a happier place. You can contribute to heaven on earth right now, and all it will take is a committment to honesty, a pledge of love for the leader trading partner eBay, and a large small percentage of your weekly income...It's all about what you're comfortable with, and ultimately bringing LOVE to you and the community"

I might. if eBay paid me for my feedback. Which they don't. And if $713 was a definition of richness in the last 300(?) years. Certainly not in my lifetime.
I haven't found any avenue to exchange my feedback for tangible goods, Which shows it's worth.
