I buy second hand collectables from small sellers located in the US and Europe. If I have them shipped to me in Australia will GST somehow be charged from July 1? What if shipping is to a US address?

Thanks for the reply k1ooo-slr-sales . I'm just making a quick reply as I have to do something. Yes there is sense in what you say and you have a point.
As for Howard being a gnome, well to be honest my friend, I am being very kind when I refer to him as that. I could repeat what Bob Brown (who I'm not a great fan of), Mark Latham (Who I'm not a great fan of either) or Simon Crean (Who I kind of admire) have said about him, but I won't because there are people here who (for whatever reasons they have) like him. I'm definitely not one.
What it comes down to amigo is that he lied about the GST. I'm just recounting that lie.
I want to avoid a political discussion here, specially about a man who disliked Medicare as much as he does the ABC.
I stand by the garden gnome tag as my honest opinion of him isn't very palatable.
I have resisted the temptation to look into the spoiler too LOL.
Anyway, enjoy the long weekend amigo and I hope you get to do a few things that you haven't had a chance to.
It's interesting that you conveniently forget that when the GST was brought in, the opposition promised they'd abolish it when they got in, but they also broke their promise. Is one party expected to keep their promises but the other isn't?

k1ooo, how was that after party
thanks for asking.
The afterparty was terrific. I had all my facebook friends over for a great shindig. It wasn't ever intended as solely a 'victory' party, just a reason for a get together.
I even made contact with people I know were supporting West Coast and acknowledged that West Coast played better when it counted and deserved the win.
Anything else on your mind, marwi?
I am assuming that you are also the poster known as marwi5023. If you are, then with your previous admissions regarding your lifestyle choices I'm surprised you would even know (or care) what the result was, unless it is to celebrate someone else's misfortune.

I purchased an 18 year old used packet of software, and it was sent from America to Australia minus the packaging and only a CD in an envelope and I was charged GST. This is criminal and an injustice by the Australian Government and the Liberal Party government. They replaced their leader Malcolm Turnbull recently with Scott Morrison, and The Liberal Party and coalition government will be overthrown at the next federal election. Morrison has been talking nonsense in parliament that his government has been creating jobs, yet when you go into a Centrelink office there are hardly no workers remaining, and the same staff are dealing in Medicare claims too. As long as this government continues to rob eBay customers by charging GST on used goods from overseas, they are doomed at the next election. The software CD that I purchased minus all packaging and instructions was 18 years old, yet the Australian government unfairly charged me GST on items where no taxes should ever be charged. These Liberal Party conmen need to be sacked by the Australian public for crimes to society.
Good point daysontheroad. The term Liberal is misleading as well. It would be great if Australia could one day have the equivalent of Ron Paul running for PM.

4channel, they are as Liberal as you can get. They liberally gorge at the tax payer funded trough every day
Yes, totally agree. Kind of makes people wonder how such a monstrosity gets away with masquerading as a political party.
BTW: There's a discussion path relating to GSTand overseas items that hasn't been explored yet.
