I just now realised that I am having my item sent to my old address and the item has already been sent, I messaged the seller to tell them my new address but other then that I don't know what to do

If you paid by paypal the seller is obliged to send to the address on the paypal notification.  Failure to do that gives them no security.  I dont know what you want the seller to do after the fact.  Can you contact the new residents of your old address and ask when it arrives can they hold and you collect it from them.  You may also be able to speak to the nearest post office to that address and ask them to hold for you.

It is your responsibility when you go through check out to ensure the correct delivery address is there.

Sign up for Australia Post's 'My Post' account.

You may be able to have the parcel 'redirected'. Give Aus Post a ring.

of course this will only work if it is a parcel, not a letter, and you have the tracking number
