Re: accidental offer

You cannot cancel

Only the seller can

You can ask them, but they are not obligated to do so

As others have said, you cannot cancel but you can ask a seller if they will cancel.

Do it asap.

You could message the seller and explain you are unable to pay for it & they may as a courtesy cancel.

If they don't, the reality is you do not have to pay. No oen can force you to.

Just don't pay.

Be aware this can have consequences, in that a seller can report it to ebay in order to claim their ebay selling fees back. Your ebay account would then get a strike. Don't worry, no one can see strikes-not sellers, nor other buyers.

But should you get 2 strikes in a short amount of time (eg 6 months-1 year), some sellers have blocks in place where buyers with 2 or more strikes can be blocked from bidding on any of their items.

Not all sellers have these blocks but many do. You can't see who has blocks, it is like an unpaid item strike-invisible to others.

The unpaid item strike does not last forever, I think it is on your account for a year? Something like that.

And keep in mind that one strike will not affect your account at all, it is only when you get 2 or more strikes you could encounter blocks.

You may find the seller will allow a cancellation on the basis you are new to ebay but I guess in future, be very careful what tabs you click on in ebay and don't click at all unless you are certain you want something.

It doesn't work exactly like some other sites, where you can click 'Buy now' and then click out if you're not keen on following through with it.
