Why havr I received a mrssage to say unable to leave Feedback,(item does not exist / F/B left)

I have neither left Feedback nor has the item vanished into the ether, it arrived today. My question is why has eBay seen fit to tell me I cannot leave Feedback because the item does not exist or I have already left Feedback ?
