be ware of using ebay money back guarantee and not paypal

am having very negative experience with ebay money back guarentee which is anything but...

initially didnt receive the article so opened a did not receive dispute with ebay. when the article then arrived it was not as described

- decribed as worn once- has colour runs and stains over it- i then tried to change the "not received" to not as described but ebay kept giving me a technical error- so i closed the "not received dispute (as I had received it) and tried to open a "not as described"- wont let me do this. Ebay says you can only open one dispute ever- this is garbage- how can you know it isnt as described until it is received. I have sent seller email with photos of damage. called ebay two days ago and they were going to send me an email but never did. talked to them now again and they tell me just call the seller- who is not answering.

worse thing is that because i opened this in ebay i now CANT do anything in paypal- this i disgusting- no where do they tell you youcan only open one dispute- no where when you are closing the not received one do they tell you that you cant open another one.

DONT expect the ebay money back to help you- stay away from this and go straight to old way with paypal

very very disappointed with this system

cassy

Cassy, you are not the only one who is disappointed in the "new and improved" ebay dispute process.

It is interesting to know that the ebay process does not allow for changing INR to NAD....that was one good feature of the paypal process.

After my experience with the ebay system yesterday I will also be sticking to paypal for any disputes I may have in future.

I believe you have the choice of one or the other, but if the one you choose is found against you, you're not allowed to open a claim via the other method. IOW, it's one or the other, win lose or draw. Like Lyndal, I'm sticking with the one I know for a fact works, which is Paypal.

I certainly hope so sparklz.

I received a cheap item from China which was broken.  I wanted to contact the seller before doing anything else.  I went to the Contact Seller link which bought up the ebay dispute page and no matter how I tried I was stuck with ticking one option.  I used the correct Not As Described reason and promptly found I had opened a dispute.

I find that the seller now has a defect because of this....and 11 hours later I had my refund.

None of this was what I wanted or intended to happen.

I have now found out that I should have ticked the option just to contact the seller...no defect apparently.

If I have been caught out by the system with all my experience how are new buyers going to fare and how many sellers will get defects when it is not what the buyer intended.  Not everyone comes to the boards to find out how to follow ebay's convoluted processes.

Between ebay sticking their oar into everything and paypal holding money willy nilly I can see my buying being curtailed in future.

problem is that they dont tell you that- i get it if it was like a real investigation but this was a case because it hadnt arrived- it was only posted the day i opened the case- I then closed that because it arrived

]nothing was found againt anyone-you have to be able to dispute the item itself

It has always been the case with ebay that you could only open one dispute per transaction.

I had to open a second dispute process wirh a buyer once and was able to sort it out with a phone call.  I would keep persisting in your case and ask to speak to a supervisor, keep demanding until they do so.

I sniff a scam here - maybe the seller held out posting the faulty item awaiting the INR case, thinking they could then post in safety????

As much as I dislike the ebay policy, I cannot agree that they did not tell you the facts:    you have to read, read, read

Buyers can't use more than one resolution method to get a refund. After selecting a resolution process (eBay Money Back Guarantee, PayPal Buyer Protection, or requesting a chargeback from their payment provider) a buyer is required to use only that process to resolve the transaction issue.

What I can't understand though is why this is deemed the exact same case.

The case of item not received was closed. But item not as described is a different case.

It's a glitch in ebay process. Maybe they haven't thought of this, but it should be obvious it could happen. They need to fix it.
