'did the item arrive by' date in feedback

when i go to leave fb for a seller, it asks 'did the item arrive by (date)'. So if i choose no even if i'm happy with the arrival timeframe, does it affect the sellers rating? if it does i would rather tell a white lie & say yes it arrived on time.

Sellers are more likely to give positive Feedback if you pay straight away.

I always pay straight away. I haven't found it has the least effect on when or if a seller gives feedback.Smiley Happy

I guess if I didn't pay, ever, then I'd be very much less likely to get any positive feedback.Smiley Wink

Sellers can only give positive feedback so unless that is towards new buyers who may not know it's pointless to try and tell me to do it.

I pay on the day I win or buy and not the exact second I win as I may not be around when an auction ends, might be out shopping.

Then I have buyers who don't pay until I open a case, they must be getting hounded by ebay to pay straight away lol.

Re: 'did the item arrive by' date in feedback

Obviously with auctions or pick up, a buyer might not pay immediately, but with most other purchases, there really shouldn't be cause for any long delay.

I'd agree, the ebay ads are just there to 'encourage' new buyers to pay asap.

I suppose what the ad says is true though. Sellers probably are more inclined to give positive feedback to those who pay up reasonably promptly. With all others, I would imagine, most sellers would simply withhold giving any feedback at all, or that's what i would do.Smiley Happy

Whether the ads would have any effect on serial pests, I have my doubts. They are hardly likely to care much about getting feedback, especially if they know they can't get a neg no matter what.

Re: 'did the item arrive by' date in feedback

Correct about the scanning time being within your stated handling time is important.

However, the AusPost scanning process can often skip a starting scan, with the initial scan being at some later location.

If this initial scan is outside of your stated handling time then eBay automatically hit you with a transaction defect of  "Tracking indicates late delivery' .(should really say something like tracking indicates late posting).  Even if the item was delivered within the estimated AusPost delivery time.

Recently happened to us and eBay's best suggestion was to simply extend our handling time.

The best way is to get them scanned on lodgement and get a lodgement receipt.

No confusion (or missed scans) that way.

If you're just going to chuck them in a red box, you are always at the mercy of the vagaries of AP's processes.

Re: 'did the item arrive by' date in feedback

I'm just imagining a whole rash of buyers being unsatisfied by positive feedback stating "Buyer paid immediately."

It intriguingly leaves open the possibility of feedback expanding on that...

"Buyer paid immediately. Was a pain in the behind subsequently, but paid immediately."

There was a seller I came across that left extraordinarily appropriate feedback for buyers - it was years ago, so I no longer remember the username, but my favourite was: This buyer bought my item

It would be better feedback than.. "Buyer paid...... eventually".  Smiley Happy
