'did the item arrive by' date in feedback

when i go to leave fb for a seller, it asks 'did the item arrive by (date)'. So if i choose no even if i'm happy with the arrival timeframe, does it affect the sellers rating? if it does i would rather tell a white lie & say yes it arrived on time.

Obviously with auctions or pick up, a buyer might not pay immediately, but with most other purchases, there really shouldn't be cause for any long delay.

I'd agree, the ebay ads are just there to 'encourage' new buyers to pay asap.

I suppose what the ad says is true though. Sellers probably are more inclined to give positive feedback to those who pay up reasonably promptly. With all others, I would imagine, most sellers would simply withhold giving any feedback at all, or that's what i would do.Smiley Happy

Whether the ads would have any effect on serial pests, I have my doubts. They are hardly likely to care much about getting feedback, especially if they know they can't get a neg no matter what.

I don't care about receiving feedback or not,so to tell me that a seller will give me positive feedback if I pay straight away is just stupidity.

I'm not a new buyer,I've been around for a long time and ebay wants to tell me what to fricken do,seriously it ain't gona happen haha.

well this seems to have gone a bit off topic!

That is not unusual.

And the additional posts ARE about feedback, so there is a tenuous link.

Don't be surprised with the off topic posts - given the company your keeping, it's common practice.

We do not simply "chuck an item in the red box".  Rather we use the red box because we pride ourselves on prompt delivery of orders and we ship the same day whenever practical and possible

The cut off time for parcels at our LPO is 4:30pm, but the red box just down our street is not cleared until 6:00pm.  Hence any orders received up until about 5:45pm are processed and "chucked" in the red box so our customers receive their order asap.

Well, then, you have chosen to wear late posting defects if there is no scan within your handling time. I'm sure most people buying online don't really care about a day. Or they shouldn't.

AP have also announced that red boxes will cleared from 5pm in a lot of places, so that is something to consider.

Where's the' pride' in chucking it in the red box?

A lot of the time the article is not scanned until delivery.

I've had many parcels just chucked in the red box....and there's no event recorded until I get it.

The buyer will think it's lost......or worse, not posted............until it turns up.    I did.

But so long as the occasional late afternoon buyer gets it a day earlier, it doesn't matter how much stress they all go through wondering about whether they'll get it at all.  Smiley Frustrated

Re: 'did the item arrive by' date in feedback

My items don't have tracking 90% of the time, and I don't experience buyers wondering if they'll get their items, and not all sellers upload tracking to their orders (I know of a few who said they stopped adding it because it caused more problems; I haven't experienced that myself, but I don't think it's a given that a buyer will stress over their order if tracking is uploaded and doesn't immediately update since we have seen numerous buyers not even question things until much later, when they get an AP tracking number that's "initiated" and stays that way for a week. Not to mention the many buyers out there that don't even check on anything, tracking etc, they just wait until they feel like they waited too long).

I tend to lodge over the counter for myself, more than for the buyers (I want that lodgement receipt), but I will put tracked articles in the box outside if there is a greater advantage at the time, eg I don't get up to the PO until around 4pm and I have express parcels, they'll go in the box outside the PO because the last collection from inside has already happened, but the boxes will be cleared a little after 5. If someone is genuinely stressed, a quick message to me might put their mind at ease, but if they choose to "suffer in silence" so to speak, IMO that's on them because that's a choice they're making (by ignoring my very clear track record as indicated by my feedback, and not actually sending a 'hey, there's a tracking number but no updates?' if they want an explanation).
