eBay stalking

Ok, so when you add an item to your watched list you might get a notification for item ending etc, BUT it seems we are being stalked by eBay. 

I keep keep getting bombarded with notifications just because I've looked at an item (not in my watchlist)!  i could opt out for notifications but then I would miss the not's for the items I am actually watching.

then theres the bombardment of ads for something i look up not on ebay.

ive been looking into NBN service providers. no sooner had i googled a few and next time i was looking at items on ebay all the advertisements had changed to NBN providers.

how does ebay know i was googling NBN providers? ive searched my house but cant find the secret cameras.

A lot of sites track you. They target the ads to what they think might grab your interest and wallet.

I was reading of one store site in US that did this and sent out a brochure or some such thing of baby items. The man of the house was amazed to be sent such a thing and rang to complain it was inappropriate, then found out his teen daughter was expecting.

The shop computer had tracked purchases and made the assumption that someone there was probably expecting a baby. The computer knew before the family.

So much for privacy!
