ebay needs to WAKE up! (re GST)

ebay needs to WAKE up and realise consumers are going to hate GST being added onto their foreign purchases...

This is a heads up ebay...!

We understand you (ebay) are forced to collect GST on behalf of the Australian Government.

We get that this is the Australian Governments decision not yours...

We also get that this is not ebay's "fault"...

But with all due respect you (ebay) need to wake up to what consumers are thinking and make it easier not more difficut to use ebay's awesome buyer<>seller matching platform..

You need to sexy up your transaction end of the platform. You need to make it easier for consumers to cancel if they are unhappy with it and you need to add more discounts to maintain your market share..

Whilst we get it's not your fault, we will not tolerate your platform if we perceive (or we think in our opinion) their is anticompetive behaviour going on....

Whilst we get it's not your fault, you are going to have to lift your game otherwsie consumers will shop outside your platform!

just a HEADS UP ebay..we are not happy about the GST! Smiley Wink (all IMHO)

Um, it's not their fault but you're blaming them for everything anyway???

What sort of discounts should they offer, and who's going to pay for them?  Are you suggesting that sellers should pay more fees so that buyers can get a discount to offset the GST?  They already give out heaps and heaps of vouchers for discounts.  Smaller sellers have been getting offered fee-free listings since the start of the year but can have hundreds of listings, so they're not paying a cent towards the upkeep of the site if they're smart.

I really don't know how you make a transaction sexy.  Perhaps you can't get your mind off a particular subject.

Last but not least, does IMHO stand for In My Heated Opinion?  There's definitely nothing humble about your post!

I must admit that I've always mentally translated IMHO as "in my honest opinion" rather than "in my humble opinion" which sounds somewhat Dickensian to me! (Uriah Heep.)

I've heard plenty of people say (physically) "in my humble opinion" but I don't recall hearing anyone say "in my honest opinion". I really can't see that it's something one would say.

Our library had a notice in the window last week. It said "Has your child been texting about libraries? Here's how you can tell." Then it had a list of common abbreviations and what they stood for. I'd never heard some of the abbreviations before and I couldn't remember all of them, but I remember that lol was "lots of libraries" and lmao was "let me ask online". 🙂

g_chortle.gifBeautiful!

I was enormously blessed as a child, with a library quite literally fewer than 5 minutes' away from home. A quick dash through the "creek" track, and we were there. The bliss of all of those books! And the agony of having to return them! (I like keeping books, which explains why I have several bookcases and many many many groaning shelves.)

I have heard it used in traditional speak as both  humble and honest,  Never gave the IMHO, a thought before.  So thought I would see what Wikipedia  had to say.   "IMHO - In My Humble/Honest opinion, cf, IMO"

People who use it are therefore wanting to convey their honesty, or their humility, or both.

I hereby invent IMHAHO; in my humble and honest opinion.

I actually prefer In My Honest Opinion, Though Essentially Percipient - IMHOTEP.

Whenever I've seen it written the context has usually indicated humble to me. Who knows what others mean when they say it though?!

I think when some people say it, it probably means in my horrible or hateful opinion. 😉

I never use the expression.

When I tell somebody something, it's not an opinion, it's providing them with useful information.

"In my humble opinion" is basically false modesty. Smiley LOL
