Seems like a dumb scam to me as not many would press to pay. Was there any other option?
Normally they try to get you to press to log in to your account to cancel the transaction. People panic and think their account may have been used to buy something so they press to cancel. Pressing takes you to a phishing lookalike page. Then they get your user ID and password.
Best advice anyone can give is do not click on links in emails or text messages for eBay, PayPal, banks or any other webpage where you have an account/password.
