embargo restriction

Hi,

Does anyone know if Australia currently have embargo on cargoes from pakistan? I ask because I've just recently ordered a large harp from pakistan but just before the date the seller promised to ship the item he msged me saying that his airline notified him that due to embargo restriction that Australian goverment has imposed my harp will be on hold. Just a week ago that same person reassured me that I'd be able to receive the harp by next week now he's changing his words. Did Australia recently impose any new sanctions? When I searched some flights from Australia to pakistan it still seemed airlines were accepting flights from pakistan

Re: embargo restriction

When I told seller I cannot share my email address I got this reply:

You can get harp even without sharing email with me. You or your agent need only AWB number which I will provide you through eBay email system. The airline staff will do a telephonic call to you when it reaches Sydney. I will also inform you when it will reach
Sydney Airport

He also told me it will reach well before christmas and before ETD

Re: embargo restriction

Ebay does not allow email and certain other details to be shared in messages as they do not want the transaction taken out of their ecosystem. This is partly a protection mechanism for you, as well as making sure the seller does not avoid fees.

You would definitely compromise your own account if you shared those details with the seller.

You might want to phone up Customs and find out what duties are possibly going to be owing (assuming it arrives). Ebay now collect GST as part of the transaction, and you would see this on your invoice, but not sure if there might be further fees to pay.

Re: embargo restriction

You aren't getting the harp from this seller. Cancel the sale and get your money back. Stop falling for their BS. They are stringing you along so it's too late to open a dispute to get a refund. When that happens, you'll have no instrument, and have lost your money to a SCAMMER.

Open a dispute for item not received as soon as the ETA date has passed. You aren't getting this item. Seriously, you're not. DO NOT trust this seller. Do you wish to continue trusting them and then discover you have lost $3000? I would much rather put that money towards a reputable seller to get a real instrument.

How many times do you need to be told? You aren't getting this instrument from this seller! Put in a claim to get your money back, or you WILL lose everything.

If anyone thinks I'm being harsh, too bad. The OP needs to have it rammed home because they have fallen for a scammer with fancy glossy photos, and WILL lose their money if they don't act.

Sadly, I suspect that the OP is still trusting this scammer and they still think they will get the instrument. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Regardless of how much they want it. I believe this transaction is going to end badly for everyone except the scamming seller. He'll be sitting back rubbing his grubby hands together for getting easy money, for doing nothing more than sending a few fruity emails.

Re: embargo restriction

I thought I only need to pay 5% customs and 10% gst at the airport do I need to pay extra on ebay? Because seller told me all I pay on ebay is item cost and shipping fee

Cross that bridge when you come to it.... IF the harp arrives.

Still think your time would be better spent studying the MBG & NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE SELLER.

Re: embargo restriction

This going to be my last post on this thread, the OP has been told many times that they are very unlikely to get the harp within the ETA (if at all).

On the outside chance of it arriving at an Australian airport, there is very likely going to be significant fumigation charges because the item's coming from a suspect country and is made of wood (if it's even permitted into the country). If it's not permitted in then there's going to be a whole new set of problems for the OP in getting their money back and/or returning the harp to Pakistan.

At the end of the day it's NOT a great quality instrument - judging by online reviews. In the past I've played instruments (guitars) and my early purchases of poor quality items made me realise that paying low bucks will get you carp every time.

Re: embargo restriction

Do they really fumigate a musical instrument? Seller did not tell me anything about fumigations.. Anyway anyone know where to best contact to get some advice on picking up something from cargo section? The seller keeps saying he'll guide me when the harp arrive insydney and I'll get a phone call from airport but I really don't know what to do on the day. When I called syd airport last time I couldn't get much information on collecting stuff from cargo as lady on phone told me she's never heard of anyone picking parcels from airport

Did I literally not just mention in my previous message that you have already paid GST? Anything bought from an overseas seller is subject to the tax which Ebay collects at the time of the transaction. Did you seriously not notice an ADDITIONAL 10% GST when you paid? Just look on your invoice for goodness sake!

It is not the sellers responsibility to know the Customs, Taxes and Duties of the country they are posting to.  This has always been the responsibility of the purchaser. Ebay makes this very clear: "Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility."

Good grief.
